[She watches the sword as he stands up and stretches. It seems fine.

He should move away from it. She shoos him a little, to encourage that.

You never know what a tool will do until you leave it alone.]

[ One eyebrow went up, but a glance at the sword seems to connect the idea of range. Good point. Keep an eye on that for him, let him know if it does weird things. It shouldn't.

Very well, he moves down the beach, stretching over there. ]

[It fades a little, maybe gets a little wobbly?

She prods the handle thoughtfully. Slightly squishy, that.

She giggles.]

[ He heads back a little after that giggle. Okay, what did the sword do now.

Picking it up, he sees. Hmn. Loosing solidity? Was it a power thing, or a distance thing? He has kept it active longer this time, so it could be a time thing. That would be a problem, so he just tries feeding it more magic, a look of faint concentration.

It's glowing more, that's not what he wanted. ]

[She snickers lightly at his look. Yeah, experiments man. She's never done one but she's heard the rumors.

Is it firmer while it's glowing more?]

[ On the other hand, a brightly glowing sword could work as a light in dark areas, and if he can control when it glows, that could be vaguely helpful as well.

Glow ignored, is it firmer? Hmn, a bit. Not quite what it was before he got up though. ]

... I'll have to test if that's time or distance. Distance would be less of a problem. ... Well, it's easy for me to make again, either way. Just practice so casting isn't long at all, and then time isn't a bother for me anyway... [ He shifts his feet and takes a few swipes at the air in front of him with his glowing sword. Doesn't feel that off to him. ]

[She bobs her head an approval, and flashes him a thumbs up.

[ He's not entirely certain what the thumbs up is for. His spell mumblings? That he knows how to use a sword? No idea.

But the second test is really the more important one. Running two spells at once never bothered him before, but he needs to make sure that the magic sword doesn't have any weird interference.

Which is why he just lets go of it. It falls maybe a half a foot, and then its twisting hand motions to make it slash the air before him.

... it keeps spinning the short way. That's a bit weird. Then again, Dein Nomos would spin absently while he wasn't actively using it. Hmn. ]

She might might even bounce in front of it and see how much getting close does anything.]

[ He's thinking on whether its the original spell, or his application of levitation that is making the blade spin, so there's no risk of flying swords ending up places they shouldn't be when she inspects it.

Doesn't seem to be anything holding it up, really. Duke waits for a minute or two before taking a step back.

Oh good, the magic-sword keeps in the same distance of him like it ought to. ]

Can you think of a test? [ He's covered what he thinks he ought to. ]

[She pokes it, trying to land a finger on the flat of the blade while it spins.

A shrug. Naw, man. It's just doing things. She's not sure how to make sure it's doing the right things.]

[ It's not spinning particularly fast so she can probably make a short game of it.

.... Duke has a moment where he stares blankly because it's... a little like having a cat nearby. ]

Then a field test would be all that remains... well, that will have to wait. [ He's not interested enough in picking a fight just to see if a spell will work right. ]
