Mmm. In fact, my home planet was uninhabitable until it was terraformed about a hundred years ago.

It happened differently on my world. The Orerines came in a white ship, and because they couldn't live in the sea they used their own technology to create land where there was water. I wonder why they chose to stay, if so many planets exist with more land.

Perhaps your universe evolved differently then. As this fleet has shown, there are an infinite number of possibilities out there.

So we may just be different? Like this world, compared to all the others we've seen...

[She nods.]

There's a saying some people in my universe have: Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. It's a celebration and recognition of the variety of possibilities in the universe... there's so much we don't know out there, but part of our job while we're here is to learn as much as we can.

[She smiles.]

I'm finding my assumptions challenged here every day, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. So perhaps what I told you has no bearing on your universe at all.

I suppose it's hard to know for sure, isn't it? But it is interesting to think about. And regardless, I think all the places we've been to makes me appreciate my home even more.

[Shirley smiles too, fondly.]

It's funny how that works, isn't it? You don't appreciate home fully until you're forced to be away from it for a while.
hearsthesea: (that's just selfish)

It's true for many other things too, isn't it? But...home is easy to think about, here.

I know. But at least we aren't alone. And we're doing something to help, something positive, despite the circumstances.
