[ She's shifting the hairband holding her hair back to actually run her hands through it when Clay gets up in her space. She blinks, once with her regular eyelids and then with the membranes. She gets what he means, but tilts her head anyway. ]

What, my eyelids?

[THEY JUST BLINKED. He leans a bit closer to look at them before he realizes he's probably too close, and thus leans back again.]

No, the - well, the other eyelids! [He points at her eyes - she knows what he means!] Those things!

[ She only tilts her head slightly back, not surprised considering the object of his curiosity at the moment. ]

Oh, you mean those. They're nictitating membranes.

[ To show them off, she closes them over her eyes. They're clear, but a slightly different texture and visible if you know what to look for. ]

They, uh, grew in around the same time as my powers.

Oh, like the ones birds have? [Now that he knows what it is, Clay sits back, still awed, but at least not up close and personal.] Wow... I always wondered what it'd be like to have things like that. I imagine it's useful in, uh...[He gestures outside.] this!

[ She doesn't mind too terrible-much. This part is pretty cool when she doesn't think about it too long, hard, or in the middle of the night. She shrugs, turns to start running hands through her hair to get some of the rain out of it. ]

Definitely useful then, useful at high speeds, useful in staring contests... You know, the usual.

Awwwww. [He leans his head back against the wall, eyes shut and a hand up to run through his own hair.] All those times Apollo beat me at staring contests... If I had those membranes, I could've won every time! [His best friend has an intimidating stare, man.]

[ She settles after a moment once she finds a thoroughly-dry corner to sit in. Or, well, on? She's floating on air. Kind of showing off, kind of not wanting to sit on the ground while still soaked from the rain. ]

Then again, if he's that good at staring, he'd probably notice you cheating.
