[She laughs at that. Nonsense.]

I'm a guard, not a hero. Ask my friend Hawke. He knows all about that. Meanwhile, you haven't told me anything about yourself. Maybe you're more of a hero than I am.

[And prettier than Aveline. She doesn't say that out loud. But she sure thinks it.]

[Natasha grins at Aveline's laughter, but her statement had been genuine. Aveline's definitely responsible. That firm sense of right and wrong you didn't find often outside of the very young and deluded. The woman is neither, and that moral certainty only adds to the rather striking quality of her presence. Maybe she wasn't traditionally pretty, but she was definitely attractive.]

I've met your friend Hawke, I think. He's got some interesting ideas about how to make friends.

[She shrugs a little at the comment regarding her own story, an easy motion.]

I don't talk about myself much. Not all that much to tell. I'm from one place, traveled some, ended up here. I'm a counselor now. There something in particular you want to know?

Hawke is... interesting, generally.

[There's definite fondness in her voice, despite herself.]

What did you do, before you ended up here? Surely it was more than travelling.

[Was Natasha a pirate? Because Maker help her if she's made another pirate friend.]
tothefly: (politely amused)

[The fondness is noted, stowed away, much like the slight hint of suspicion in the following question. Natasha smiles in response.]

A little bit of everything. I like variety. My last job was working as a personal assistant, herding a CEO around. I guess in terms of the world you're used to, a page would be the closest analogy? I kept appointments. Made arrangements for appearances and travel. Not nearly as boring as it sounds, I promise.
coppermarigolds: (to change their minds)

[She nods, slowly. She understands that, or at least most of it. Important people have their assistants. Viscount Dumar had had Senechal Bran. And after the Viscount's death? She thanked the Maker for Senechal Bran.]

A CEO is, I assume, someone important. A sort of nobility?

[The most unladylike of snorts, clearly amused.]

He'd like to think so. Some of them might as well be, though. CEOs run large businesses, usually in some kind of trade or another. Often multiple fields. Most of them make enough income in a year to run a good chunk of a small country. A lot of them inherit the business from their parents. And almost all of them think they're more important than they are. Power breeds arrogance. And ignorance, usually.
coppermarigolds: (just going to say it)

[She gives a bit of a grimace, but it's an amused expression.]

That's familiar. Some things are universal, I suppose.

[Natasha offers a slightly crooked smile in return.]

I guess so.
