009 // i carry your bones in my heart
Who: Dorian and YOU
Broadcast: Fleet-Wide
Action: On the Three Twins!
When: 8/11, Midnight.
[It's rare in Drift Fleet to see Dorian as The Necromancer. He plays with people, he flirts with them. Occasionally his humor is morbid. But that's just him.
But tonight is different.
The broadcast is from a darkened cargo bay of the SS Three Twins.
Dorian is wearing black robes with a pointed hood, and as the broadcast starts, he gestures with a skull-topped staff, seeming to almost do it for show. There's a whispering of something circling him, a spirit, perhaps, and candles illuminate around him as it vanishes.]
I do hope you're having a good night. I had nearly lost track of the date, what with the odd stars, but I'm quite certain that it is the beginning of the eighth month, Matrinalis. Which means, for those of you unaccustomed to Thedosian holidays, it is All Soul's Day. Or close enough. ...regardless...
[He conjures a small flicker of fire in his hand, the light casting shadows on his face, the glowing purple lines of necromantic sigils and runes seemingly etched into his hands and arms.]
It is the day we Thedosians remember our dead. As a necromancer, I daresay I am qualified to lead the celebrations, if you will.
You are welcome to come and extinguish a candle for those you've lost.
((OOC: A combination network post and mingle log! Start up an action thread if you'd like, thread with other folks, just leave a comment in the subject if your character is looking to chat with Dorian.))

[Like power-hungry and fear-mongering and hateful and deceitful and dismissive. But that's digging a little deeper than he intends to go for the purposes of this conversation.]
Wouldn't even let me play a part in the chapel show! "Too disruptive," they said. I think it was just because I don't have enough barbarian in me.

[He chuckles to himself.]

Please. As far as the Chantry is concerned, we were all born knowing how to do that already. Little bit of "evil Magister" in every mage, just waiting to be smothered with impunity.
[He shrugs, like it doesn't matter to him either way. (Spoiler: it does.)]
But at least it would have made the celebration more exciting, hmm?
private;
[And he considers for a moment.]
Perhaps I judged you too quickly. You'll have to forgive me, Anders. You seem agreeable enough. Hardly the man I was expecting from your reputation.
[Well, if Anders was wondering why the stream was locked and encrypted, it's because Dorian doesn't want to gain rivalry with Fenris by making the statement that Anders isn't terrible.]
private;
Funny how that works.
[His reputation, earned from a mishmash of things he's done and hasn't done and might yet still do. Still, it's— something. Better than the alternative, anyway, which has Aveline and Cullen staring at him like he might spontaneously combust, and Fenris fantasizing about tearing his heart out.]
Regardless! Forgiveness granted, of course. It was only a matter of time before everyone appreciated me for the ball of fun that I am.
private;
[If not in Tevinter, for the scandal of not marrying, then outside of it, simply for his accent and being a proud mage.
It was odd, how different things were in the South. In Tevinter, mages were prided, and magic was something to show off, to impress others. The stronger the mage, the better his chances at being Archon.]
Yes, well, regardless, should you need anything, or simply wish to discuss theory, you may contact me. I don't think Fenris would appreciate me fraternizing with you too much, but I've never been one for following the whims of others entirely.
private;
Better justified.]
Let's be honest, now, is there anything Fenris does appreciate? Try to do that and you'll end up sitting on a little chair in a dark room staring at the wall. [He stares contemplatively off-camera.] Don't worry. I'll do my level best to be as unassuming as possible.
[He doesn't mean for that thread of sarcasm to slip in at the end, but... having a spotlight shone on the things that make him so unpopular around the fleet makes him uncomfortable, even halfway— and his favorite remedy for discomfort is abrasive humor.]
private;
[And he chuckles to himself.]
I will speak with you again sometime, Anders. Do take care.
private;
I always do. [Cheerfully, as he tips an imaginary hat.] And a good All Soul's Day to you.
