fifth labyrinth
Who: Felix Harrowgate
Broadcast: Fleet-wide video
Action: Waystation
When: Today
[Today Felix has seated himself at a bench in the vacant park area of today's closest waystation. It's certainly not for the ambiance, given that the courtyard is as bland as ever.]
I was hoping to beg a few moments of everyone's time... [He smiles brightly, sharp and genial - a politician's kind of smile]
As far as things that affect the fleet as a whole, it's my understanding - and correct me if I am wrong - that the library aboard the Bishop no longer has a caretaker since Krista left us. It likewise occurred to me that since we now have the Iskaulit under our control, that we might consider making use of it after all the trouble you all went to clear it out. Therefore, I'd like to propose moving the current collection to the Iskaulit with the permission of the current crew of the Bishop. At least there it would be easier for the rest of the fleet to access it.
[He pauses for a moment, adjusting the position of his hands on the table]
The other matter is more specific. I brought up the idea of having a meeting of the fleet's magic users some months ago, but that hasn't quite fallen into place. It doesn't have to be anything quite so formal as what I've done in the past... [Though, admittedly, transferring the library is a step towards just that kind of idea. The temptation to reform Chimera, or some form of it, is strong after so many years of having it be a part of his life in the castle. But he's rather not appear so selfish from the start.] ...but just for time being, anyone is welcome to come speak to me here. There's sufficient space and lack of any bystanders if there's any desire for demonstrations. [Or so he hopes]

Re: video
True. None of the ships are particularly large enough to hold meetings of many, and travel between... I could do it with my gates, but those are.... more difficult.
[ Painful was the word for it, and he only really used them for emergencies, not a means of convenience. Doing them twice in a short span of time could leave him bedridden from magical, physical, and mental exhaustion. ]
I am sure if we provide further incentive of food we shall have quite a few attendees.

[Vending machines, he's looking at you]
Re: video
I believe there is a thing known as a deli platter? Perhaps one of those? And tea and coffee are not overly expensive if we pool our resources.
[ It was not wine, but they could work their way up. Progress. ]

[Sorry Felix. He's nine.]

They aren't mine, but not many, I'm afraid. It's made of whatever other people from the fleet could find on the planets we have landed on in the past. Naturally adding to it will be a task for us in the future.

Books from other planets? What are they about?

All manner of subjects, I imagine. History, geology, magic, astronomy. What subjects interest you?

What type of meeting?
video
Mostly just a social one where we might also get the chance to learn more about each other's talents, if we wish. I'm not planning any kind of rebellion, if that's what you were asking.

[ Nodding, though it occurs to her that she has none of her weaponry; it doesn't particularly matter in the case of conjury, at least, if there are elements around from which to draw the magic in the first place. Even a summoning, at this point in her career, could take place without her arcana...but a star reading without a globe? Hm... ]
How do you recover things that were taken from you when you arrived? I could teach how to use the stars to negate incoming damage, but it requires...my globe. And my cards.

I'm not completely certain. I heard of a few people winning back some of their items in games of chance a few months back. I'd wager it won't be the last time they'll dangle that possibility in front of our noses, but I can't be more helpful than that.
Can you tell me more about these objects? [Especially the cards, which he perks up every so slightly up at the mention of]

[ Nodding enthusiastically. ] Astrologians use star globes, to chart the positioning of the celestial bodies. We use cards -- there are six primary ones -- to divine the will of the stars. By attuning your aether to the heavens, you can achieve magic: to shield, or to heal. Sometimes both. And the stars you divine grant benefits to you, which you can confer on others. Extra protection, or stronger magic. Things like that.

Action
Felix? What are you doing out here?
Action
A little bit of organizing. I have problems being idle for too long.
[And isolated. He missed the casual camaraderie of Chimera in addition to the intellectual challenges. And without the materials he needed to finish warding the ship, this would have to do]

You never struck me as the restless type.

It would be better, to have the library in a more public area. I do not doubt that is what Krista would have wanted. Some larger space easily accessible for all.
video
I agree. And we could do with more common spaces for the fleet in general. I dislike keeping to these little boxes they have us in most of the time. It's suffocating.
video
It truly is. And we cannot always guarantee we will find a planet or waystation. The Iskaulit at least provides the space to stretch our legs somewhat. We would be able to fit far much more books and the like there, too.
