SO SORRY I'M SO LATE
When she lays eyes on one familiar redhead, there is more than a little surprise, there.]
Kaneis? What am I...I'm not dreaming, am I? [She blinks, realising how that sounds. Wait--WAIT!] Not like that.
ITS ALL GOOD
...Wow. Nice to know you have dreams about me.
[Seriously talk about an ego stroking!]
But no. This isn't a dream. Welcome to the Wonderduck. You're our new Captain.
[He reaches over to a small bowl on the table and grabs a handful of what is, yes, more confetti- then he tosses it up on the air at Flora before speaking in his same dull, apathetic tone]
Congratulations.

[The last is muttered. She's hardly wearing anything risque--it's more cute than anything and she's worn much less in public quite comfortably, at that--but it's the principle of the matter!! She's in her nightwear--this is so unseemly.
A piece of confetti manages to land above her her lip and she sharply blows it off while staring at him, flatly and unimpressed.
She raises a finger and looks like she's about to Start when what he says hits her and she moves her hand to her mouth, her eyes going wide with realisation, instead.]
Wait, I'm the Captain of the what?
[SHE'S NOT SURE WHICH TO BE MORE INCREDULOUS AT.]
no subject
Captain of the Wonderduck.
Apparently our old captain jumped ship- so Atroma thought you'd be a good replacement.
no subject
Ah. [She clears her throat, delicately.] That's what I thought you said. [Absolutely.]
But why me out of...however many people we have here? You've all been here longer--that's very strange, isn't it?
no subject
I don't think it's that strange. I don't wanna be captain.
no subject
I'm really curious at what kind of metric they're using here--I haven't even been here for a full week. How am I the most qualified?
no subject
[He shrugs, he really doesn't]
If you don't think you're up to it, you can always resign.
no subject
[Just. Ugh. Responsibility, sometimes.
Even though she's hilariously responsible.
She rubs the back of her head and more confetti shows up on her hand. As if there wasn't enough from before.]
no subject
[But moving on, acting like he didn't just throw confetti at her]
Anyway, I'm compiling a supply list of things we should look out for while we're on the planet's surface. Any ideas, Captain?

How are we for food? I--
[It's belated, because she's pointedly avoided thinking about food in any great detail since she arrived, nor has she actually eaten much, but she's hit by an unusual sensation now, this strange feeling of Knowing. It doesn't hurt, but that's just odd.]
That's...that's so bizarre. [She blinks, and frowns mildly. She's read a bit about the augments in the archive, but she can't say she's pleased about someone messing in her head.]
Um, I think cooking is my job...what do you have on the list, so far?
no subject
Wait. You mean we actually got a cook for once?
Ha- great! [FOOD. FUCK YES]
[And oh, the list. He holds it over for her to see. It's mostly basic stuff: food, weapons, medical supplies, shampoo, clothes, yarn, etc etc]
no subject
[Clearly not enough people have complained about the food to her, but truth be told, she's not expecting very much, at the same time. They've done the space rigmarole already, and the food wasn't all that great then, too.
She eyes the list, though.]
Hmm I wonder if I'll be able to find a greatscythe, but if not a sword will do...but yarn? Whose idea was that?
[She raises an eyebrow, but it's not displeased or mocking, she's actually quite pleased about that prospect.]

...
...Someone suggested I needed a hobby.

[....da fuq is crochet, he's wondering]
Knitting.
no subject
[Handcrafts is a fantastic idea, but now Flora is trying to come up with a list of things she's able to do or pursue.]
Who suggested it? Are they going to show you?
[Does she need to try and bake cookies for company? KANEIS ARE YOU MAKING FRIENDS?]
no subject
[And thus. He must prove him WRONG. By suffocating him with a sweater]
no subject
Well, the proving wrong part. The homicidally tsun part, not so much.]
Right. I can teach you, if you'd like!
no subject
You can knit...?
no subject
no subject
Do you not get out much or something...?

I mean, usually a lot of hobbies means you have a lot of time on your hands or...a lot of pent up tension.
no subject
[She foresees getting more tense as time goes on, though, and so she will just ignore that point.]
Those aren't even all of them, but anyway, it helps that for some of them, the better you are at least one of them, the easier it is to pick up others, since they need the same sets of skills, like hand-eye coordination.
