I am leading a hunting party. One companion is ideal; I will take no more than three. Bring your own weapons and dress for the cold. We depart at sunrise, from the lodge at the foot of the mountains, and there will be trips every other day beginning tomorrow.

[ Come across Nyssa in the early morning pacing before leaving, during the day already hunting, or at night, having made camp. She has a spear and a full quiver of arrows with her. ]

[ Well, nothing gets Winter's attention quite like hearing the word 'hunting'. He talked very briefly with Nyssa when she first arrived, but nothing past that. If she's leading any kind of party, then she has some sort of background in it.

If not, it will be easy enough to go off on his own. Regardless, he meets her at dawn as instructed, dressed in his combat attire and a dark green scarf wound around his neck. He gives her a nod. ]

Are there more coming?

[ Honestly, he hopes not. ]

[ He's much more intimidating in person, if Nyssa was the type to be intimidated by size. She eyes the metal arm, then looks past him. ]

If there are, they are late, and I have little need for those who are not punctual. Come.

[ She slings the quiver securely over her shoulder and starts walking, expecting that he'll fall in line. ]

[ He doesn't take Nyssa for someone easily intimidated, her words only solidifying that notion. It doesn't escape his notice that she's armed with a bow and arrow, internally wondering how long that will go on before things go wrong.

A hunter is only as good as their weapon, after all. He falls into step behind her, vigilance high as ever. Winter's not sure why she thinks she cacan trust him at her back, but he won't do anything to disprove her thought.

At the very least, she's not at his back. ]

If you can get by with that thing, we will be fine.

[ They'll be fine, anyway. ]

[ Because she is always vigilant, and only a fool attacks an al Ghul with malicious intent and expects to survive. ]

This thing requires years of training to master. I am unmatched. Can you say the same, Winter?

Anyone with a weapon can claim skill. [ A pause. ]

Survivors are not allowed when I am involved.

[ If he were an angrier person, he may try to prove her wrong. For both their sake, he isn't. ]

Then I will simply prove you wrong later today.

[ There is no smugness, only fact. She is the best, that's that. ]

There are none when I am involved, either. [ a pause ] I will allow time for us to become acquainted with our prey's habits, but I foresee little trouble subduing them.

...Then it's good to meet another ghost.

[ He has no doubt that they'll have time- that's all anyone in the fleet will ever have. ]

katniss + octavia

[ She has an extra spear for Octavia, and a spare crossbow in case Katniss prefers the bow. Nyssa knows by now the heavy gear isn't really necessary, but the idea is to practice, and to be honest, she's curious about teamwork. This place doesn't offer much of an opportunity. The rest of the supplies have been split into two bags they can take turns carrying. ]

[ She's not humming or moving, just standing, as she waits, quiet and still. ]

[Octavia's trailing along behind Katniss, obviously still trying to get a feel for the snow if the look on her face is anything to go by.]

Sorry we're late, I had to have her show me a few things first so I didn't slow us down on the trip. Never seen snow before now.

You should have mentioned — we can always take a longer trip to appreciate the mountains.

[ She's not surprised to see Steve, but Nyssa's eyes drop to the rifle slung on his shoulder instantly. There's a brief look of disdain, but she never stated she'd refuse anyone on the basis of their choice of weapon. It doesn't seem to fit him, even if she knows he's a soldier, from the outside world. ]

It seems there are no others coming. We should leave.

[enshields]

[He has the rifle slung and stowed. Honestly, he'd rather his shield. Any shield, at this late hour. But he's not fool enough to go anywhere undefended, either. Still, he marks that look of disdain with a faint 'what can you do' quirk to his brow.

He shifts his weight to the balls of his feet and nods.]

I'll let you set the pace.

[ At this, her mouth quirks, amused. ]

No one lets me, I simply do. Will you follow me again?

[enshields]

[Mildly,]

If you believed that, you wouldn't need to tell me.

[His capitulation is non-verbal, he simply falls into step beside her.]

[ She frowns, and opens her mouth to retort, before firmly shutting it. He's right. It just implied a passivity she doesn't associate with herself, and if it was true then Sara — ]

[ Sara would have been with her only because Nyssa took what she thought was hers, and she knows that's not what happened. ]

In a few respects, it cannot be. I will concede that. Not often, however.

[His boots crunch in the snow. He's wearing a coat but the lion's share of the warm-weather clothing on the Bloodsport wasn't big enough for him, so the only thing under the jacket is short-sleeved. He barely feels the cold, but dislikes on principle that it's there. What good memories he has of winter have been buried beneath ice and anguish. So he hikes the strap of his rifle higher, and thinks of other things.]

Ever been anywhere like this?

[ He switches the track of conversation, and Nyssa follows, silently glad to be led this way. ]

Yes. I grew up in a place much like this. What about you?

[Sokka was planning on hunting himself, he needs to up the Blue Fish's meat supply, and he's not about to let the opportunity this planet offers go. Still, company is better than going it alone, so he'll be heading over to the designated spot, carrying a spear and his trusty boomerang on his back. ]

Hey. You the one looking for a hunting partner?

I am.

[ She gives him a quick once-over, satisfied with the confident way he carries himself. ]

Nyssa al Ghul. You are?

[He smiles and gives a small wave. ]

Sokka. I'm the captain on the Blue Fish. Nice to meetcha.

Well-met, Sokka. It seems no one else is coming, we can leave.

[ She nods, and starts walking on the trail. ]

Is there something you are looking for in particular, or might I choose our prey?

[He'll fall into step beside her. ]

Go right ahead, I'll be making as many trips as I can before we leave. Got a big crew to feed.
