[ that is literally the only thing zuko texts, because he has stepped out onto the ice planet Hoth and is promptly regretting ever doing so. firebenders rise with the sun, and zuko is a morning person, and nothing is more claustrophobic than being on a ship with no natural light, or heat, or energy -- and being outside alone is rejuvenating for him, but --

there is so much snow.

so feel free to spot him wandering around looking furious in a scarf, stubbornly melting a small patch of snow, or perusing the markets for things to buy with money that he probably asked someone else for.

or you can hit him with snow and take advantage of the fact that he is, in fact, a firebender on what is apparently a recreation of the northern water tribe. with more salt.

[Remus doesn't have the same amount of pure hatred Zuko does for the snow, but that doesn't mean he's going to go tromping in it. In fact, he steams himself a tidy little path as he heads to the market, through the snow, enjoying himself considerably.

He's intrigued as he sees a flash of flame, and heads over to the source.]

zuko watches remus plow his way through the snow, his brow furrowing in curiosity. with a slight roll of his wrist, the fire dissipates, and he slides his hands into the pockets of his coat. ]

Fine.

[ pause ]

How are you doing that?

Magic.

[Which sounds glib, but he shows off his wand in demonstration.]

It's a simple spell, really-- I generate steam and simply point it where I want it. In this case, to melt a path. Might I ask the same of you? I've never seen anyone handle raw fire like that before.

[ Ken's scarf, on the other hand, is wrapped around something he's carrying. He's hoping to find new parts for Spot the Slightly Defective Space Roomba, and even though he knows Spot is a robot, letting the robot just go outside like this didn't feel right.

He stops, however, when he notices that this familiar-looking person is...actually making some of the snow melt. ] That's a convenient ability.

[ Is this how to start a conversation? Or express interest? He'll give it a try!! ]

zuko shrugs slightly ]

In this place, it is -- what are you carrying?

[ moreover, why are you not actually using that scarf, small child. ]

Ah... [ Ken unwraps a portion of the scarf to show off the metal inside. ] It's for cleaning. I'm hoping to find better sensors....

[ Assuming Spot is okay with getting its sensors changed, but bumping into things when trying to clean is probably frustrating. ]

[It has ROCKS and ICE instead and the water's mostly frozen, but it's still totally a beach get out. ]

[ poor, poor, miserable firebender. she's just going to call out when she spots him -- ]

[ and that's a snowball, flying toward impact right at the back of his head. ]

[ on most days, zuko has great reflexes. but he has been lazy for the past two weeks and he's on a giant ice planet and while he immediately whips around to duck the snowball -- which he does -- he sort of slips on the ice and after one panicked windmill of his arms to catch his balance the great esteemed future leader of the free world, firelord zuko,

winds up directly in a snow bank.

there's a moment or two of stunned silence before a muffled groan emerges from the snow.

now he's annoyed and cold. ]

[ she can't help it: the moment that she's sure the groan is out of irritation and not injury, katara is laughing. loudly and sharply, just because that was a completely unexpected outcome -- she'd anticipated him barking at her in frustration, not literally falling into a snowbank.

she jogs over to zuko, a little breathless, and the apology in her voice does not at all line up with the amusement on her face. ]

Sorry about that. Are you alright?

[As a rule, Beverly doesn't hate snow. In fact, she rather likes it... living most of her life in a climate controlled environment has made her appreciate real weather. However... today, Zuko's mood is suiting her just fine.]

It couldn't have been a beach, could it?

[ have the world's largest sigh, and zuko turns to face beverly, tugging aside his scarf ]

I miss the beach.

[ and the ocean, and sunshine, and warm temperatures. ugh. ]

But also, you called her obnoxious. And there is that nice offer on the table for heat for potential mikan trees, so she won't be too horrible about this, okay?

the snowball hits him in the shoulder, and zuko immediately whips around with a short burst of fire (a wall, if you would) to shield himself from any following.... but when nothing happens, he scowls and dusts the snow off, the crystals evaporating instantly. ]

[...well she's kind of glad she WASN'T following that up with anything now. His overreaction is kind of hilarious and kind of sad, but you know what, she's impressed anyway.]
