[On New Year's Day, the crew on board the Windrose and those nearby may notice the chill as the doors to the cargo bay are left open, and their captain making quite a bit of noise as she inspects their newly expanded home away from home. This is likely to go on for a while. Feel free to come investigate, chat among yourselves, complain about the cold, etc!]

I'm not opposed to it. Would be good to have supplies we can count on that didn't come straight from Atroma. I'd like it if you'd walk me through what you have going so far. Maybe we can find a way to build you an actual hydroponics garden.

Certainly. The succulents from the desert moon are in my quarters as it's important not to overwater them, but the rest are here in the cargo bay. Do you have time now?

[He nods.] The first I was present for was the ocean world, where I picked up the kelp. The cacti and succulents are from the desert moon, and then new seedlings are from Arslae.

Kinda glad you weren't here for the one before that. The entire planet was one big living, semi-sentient plant. I really don't think we'd have wanted to bring part of that on board any ship.

Mm. I wasn't down on the planet for that one [Because she was a sane person and not desperate enough for solid ground to land on a planet that wanted to be landed on] but I saw enough of the results to be glad about that. Some of the fleet barely made it back.

As long as you're not growing Audrey II in here, I think I can find resources to support your garden. Find anything interesting on this planet?

It's possible it could have been lonely and wanted companionship, but I'm afraid it's difficult to tell without being there. [It depends on the planet's level of intelligence, really.

He does get the reference and smiles at it.] The only new food plant I found is some mint, but there were several with medicinal uses that natives use to treat the colds. If we can have a sustainable way to produce medical supplies, the whole Fleet could benefit.

Those other plants could definitely be useful, especially considering our current lack of medical facilities. I didn't catch whatever was going around out there, but it didn't look fun. I'll start setting credits aside so we can expland your garden here.

Also, remind me that we should look into recruiting a medical officer from one of the other ships. With this many people floating around, one ship's bound to have a spare.

I would hesitate to call the cold fun, but at least it was instructional. If nothing else, knowing there are diseases which can affect persons who have unusual immune systems is extremely good to know. I'd fully support the search for a medical officer.
