[ Obi-Wan is no stranger to waking up to unknown locations, but this seemed odd . . . even for him. He gropes for his lightsaber . . . which is gone, obviously. He huffs, before straightening himself and brushing his hair back. Communications . . . communications . . . ah, there it is.

A video feed. Somewhat archaic, but it'll do. He doubts anyone from the Republic will be nearby, but perhaps the locals will offer some aid. Obi-Wan clears his throat before speaking. It's time for his other skill set to come in use. ]

Greetings. My name is General Kenobi. To whom do I have the pleasure of addressing? And I don't suppose there is someone willing to answer my questions? Because I have a great deal many of them.

[Well that's a bullshit diplomatic non-answer if ever she heard one.]

Surely you don't think that anything about the way they treated me was fair, do you?

No. And I disagreed with it.

[ He pauses ] But there was a Jedi involved, that we all trusted. For me, this was not the first time it has happened.

[ Dooku was Qui-Gon's master and he was lost so quickly, they barely had time to wrap their minds around it. Now, you cannot even speak of his past. ]

Oh, you want to bring Barriss into it?

Fine-- why didn't anybody notice what was going on with Barriss? Before it got to the point where she felt like no other choice but to bomb people?

[There's anger in her words, sure-- but this time they're not all directed at the Council. Some of it is at herself. In this, she's guilty as the Council. Barriss was her best friend, and she didn't notice a thing. She should have been there for her. She should have noticed.]

I was speaking more of Count Dooku. Barriss is someone you know better than me.

[ It's a sting, not the kind he would give. ]

You seem to think the Council is apparently incapable of making mistakes. That is not true and it never will be. Or do you think we're all seeing and wise, like many people do?

No-- I don't! I think they're incapable of admitting their mistakes! You and Master Plo-Koon were the only two who even apologised. Everyone else just-- just carried on! "It was the will of the Force." Bantha crap it was! I thought about coming back, until that. They don't care about-- about practicing anything they preach. They only care about covering their own tails when they were found at fault!

[ He listens to this, with a measured glance. ]

I wonder. I can't speak for them and they certainly should have said more for blaming one of their own.

I can say this, though. The loss was felt.

[ He pauses, briefly dwelling on Yoda's mission. ]

If we survive the Clone Wars, I doubt the Jedi will ever be what it once was.

[ It's a huge confession on his part, and he will still fight to protect the Jedi Order. He still believes, mistakes or otherwise. ]

[Obi-Wan's measured words bring Ahsoka back down. She's still angry, and upset. But she's being unfair to Obi-Wan.]

... Maybe. ... Would that, too, be the will of the Force?

[She isn't trying to be smart, or make a point. She's genuinely curious to know what Obi-Wan would think.]

[ He folds his arms behind his back. He reaches out to the Force, just briefly. He is a vessel for the Force, in a way. He has never compromised. ]

Perhaps. For every victory, a cost must be paid.

[ And he has yet to pay. ]

... Hasn't everybody paid enough already?

[The troopers. The civilians. The Jedi. No one is without losses.]

That is not for us to say, but for the end to inform us.

[ Yoda's thoughts don't fill him with hope, but he'll put his faith in them. They might win some victories, but they've all . . . lost the war. ]

... I just hope you're right.

I hope so too, believe me.

[Well, this conversation got depressing. There's an awkward silence for a minute while Ahsoka absorbs that.]

... Well. Home aside... [TIME FOR A SUBJECT CHANGE. Ahsoka puts on her best Jedi Face again.]

You should be assigned to a ship soon. Then we can talk in person.

Anakin is on the Paisley, I believe. . . . As a pilot.

[ You can tell how thrilled Obi-Wan is about that. ]

Which ship are you on?

The Starstruck. Also as a pilot.

It's not so bad. The other day we had a race.

With these ships?

[ He'd be surprised if they managed to hit light speed. ]

[Ahsoka shrugs.]

They don't go much faster than a snail, but that's part of the challenge.

I'll never understand the thrill of a race, I'm afraid.

[ Because he hates flying. ] So, who won?

Funny you should ask. It's still in debate.

I'll let you know after I thrash Anakin in the next round. I've been adding some modifications to my ship.

And I don't doubt he'll be doing the same.

[ He shakes his head fondly. Some things never change. ]

It's a way to keep busy.

[And a way to covertly buy parts for her ship that aren't strictly speed related. She just hopes the Atroma aren't savvy enough to guess what she's doing.]

I don't suppose there are other ways for people not fond of flying?

Well... I'm teaching a class here on meditation. I know, I know. Don't laugh.

[Ahsoka likes meditating about as much as Anakin does. Which is to say, not at all.]

But a few people expressed interest in learning. Perhaps you could take over?

Oh, no. I can't take over your class. That would be rude.

[ Not to mention hilarious. Ahsoka is a good teacher, but meditation is something neither she or Anakin ever achieved . . . well. ]

Nope. Not rude at all! Everyone would totally understand.
