[ Obi-Wan is no stranger to waking up to unknown locations, but this seemed odd . . . even for him. He gropes for his lightsaber . . . which is gone, obviously. He huffs, before straightening himself and brushing his hair back. Communications . . . communications . . . ah, there it is.

A video feed. Somewhat archaic, but it'll do. He doubts anyone from the Republic will be nearby, but perhaps the locals will offer some aid. Obi-Wan clears his throat before speaking. It's time for his other skill set to come in use. ]

Greetings. My name is General Kenobi. To whom do I have the pleasure of addressing? And I don't suppose there is someone willing to answer my questions? Because I have a great deal many of them.

Most certainly. I tend to travel on space cruisers quite often.

[ And as a Jedi, he's required to travel. ]

I believe you might be in the minority, then. It seems many aboard this Fleet have never been off their own planet prior to arriving here.

[ But it's good to know, that there's a few who are more comfortable with the situation and would likely be best to turn to were there some kind of emergency. ]

So I've been hearing. I will assist any way I can.

I'm sure your expertise will be greatly appreciated, General.

[ He pauses, trying to word it in a way strangers would understand. ]

For the Republic Army. It is a group of planets working together, as a democracy.

[ Huh. Well, she guesses it's a logical next step up from countries on a planet doing the same thing. ]

And do you represent this Republic as a whole? Or one of its planets?

I am a Jedi. I'm not tied to any planet, but the galaxy. That is where my purpose lies.

[ He can barely remember his home world. He's lived with the Jedi and where the Jedi are, is home. ]

[ And now we're back to being a bit confused. ]

I'm afraid I've never heard of a "Jedi" before.

We are an order dedicated to keeping peace in the galaxy.

[ Talking about the Force and other qualities would be confusing to others. ]

[ Hilariously, it'd probably make perfect sense to her, since she basically teaches/utilizes the same type of powers. But in the meantime: ]

And what makes a Jedi different from any other person of this Republic?

We follow a different code - a belief, you could say. In something we call the Force.

[ Hmm. ]

Only the Jedi share this belief?

Others do, but not many. And Jedi are the only ones who can use the Force.

[ though Obi-Wan doesn't agree with the idea of "using" the Force. He believes the Force flows through them, to use as their vessels. ]

You speak of it as though it is some sort of item or ability rather than a belief.

I would hardly call the Force an item. An ability . . . perhaps, but even that does not come close to what the Force is.

[ She pauses, thoughtfully. ]

Perhaps ... something you might harness to grant you abilities?

That would work. I'm afraid it is difficult to explain fully.

I understand. There is something similar, at least in its most base form, where I am from.

[ It would be pretty hard for her to explain that to someone who isn't from the same world, too ]

Does it have a name?

[ People do call the Force different things. He's curious to hear if the Force exists on other worlds. ]

We call it "Hamon", or "Ripple".

[ Close enough. ]

And how does it work, so to speak.

[ She's quiet for a moment, thinking of the quickest and easiest way to summarize. ]

It is a power that comes from the Sun's energy. It can be channeled and harnessed by people with the proper aptitude through proper breathing technique to do many things -- fight, defend, heal, manipulate the objects around you ... the limit, really, is your own creativity.

The Force has some creative outlets open to us. We don't know everything about it and it is - and has always been - teaching us more.

What has it taught you, General?

. . . A manner of peace that eluded me when I was younger.

[ For Obi-Wan, getting over Qui-Gon's death seemed insurmountable. Not to mention, he was suddenly a Jed Master, with his own Padawan. Recovery of self seemed dim, at the time. ]
