Who: Chara
Broadcast: Text
Action: Red Fish, if you dare.
When: during the day (as in not at 12:30 in the morning when I am posting this)
Just throwing an idea out here. If anyone can find medicine that actually works on these ridiculous space colds (and lets me have some), I will knit that person as many ugly sweaters as they want. I promise, astronaut's honor, or whatever they say out here.
[ Of course, those on the Red Fish also have to deal with this colossal trainwreck of an adolescent in person. More or less. They're kind of cooped up in their sweet counselor office, having created a makeshift nest of blankets and pillows (one from the bed they would normally use, the rest from the couch in said office), though they are occasionally willing to leave the office. Mostly just for food, though if anyone is in the kitchen at these times, they will get to deal with this kid kind of giving them shifty eyes the entire time.
Enjoy your meal! ]

...it's not bad. ]
It's fine.
[ Having some more, and clearing their throat. ]
Thanks. For sharing.

You're welcome. But everything in here is for everyone on the ship.
[She goes back to stirring, so it doesn't boil over on her.]
I was worried it'd be too salty.
[Because the planet is made of ice and salt, basically.]

[ They duck their head, frowning a bit. ]
I'm not used to it.
[ It's normal, after all, for kids to have limitations on what they can and cannot eat in the kitchen.
That isn't quite what they mean, though. ]
You're better at this than some people I know. One of them, she set her house on fire. While cooking.

[She adds more pepper and covers the pot with a lid to let it simmer. She'll take this around in a little while.]
And you know, it's okay. To not be used it. Doesn't mean you can't let yourself, in time.
[She's young, but a little bit wise. She doesn't know Chara's story, but she can spot people who have gone through stuff. She sort of collects those types.]

[ Complacency is a danger. ]
I mean-- what if you let me do whatever I wanted and I just decided, I decided I wanted to crash the ship into the sun? I could do something like that.
[ It's a stupid threat, not even a likely one. Barely even a threat at all. ]

Someone tried that already. He didn't make it. There was lots of punching and yelling involved.
But on a more serious note, you're free to do what you will here, within reasonable limits.

...where is he now?
[ Did they KILL HIM? ]
no subject
I don't know. He and our last captain disappeared over a month ago. Another of our crew vanished not long after that. Coil and I are the only ones left of the original Red Fish crew from when I arrived.
no subject
[ Well, if they weren't already sure that they were gonna get killed out here!!!!!! ]
no subject
[A sober nod to go with that.]
It happens to some people. A lot of people I've met have just gone, with no explanation. But, I can safely say I don't think they're harmed. Adrasteius disappeared for a few months, and then was brought back. He seems exactly the same. So that's a comfort at least.

Probably, yeah.
[No sense in denying it.]
Just one more thing to add to the list, I guess.
[You know what? She's gonna make some coffee.]

[ They finish off the last of their soup. And...they probably should get to know their crewmates better, but it's still weird to talk to people...
Oh well, they'll just stand up and head to the sink to wash their bowl (and soak the hell out of their sweater's sleeves in the process, since Chara isn't rolling them up). ]
Thanks for the food, by the way.

[She eyes the very wet sweater sleeves. They don't have sweaters where she's from, but it still looks like heavy, wet fabric.]
Isn't that uncomfortable?

It's cold in here, it's fine.
[ Space is cold. This planet is cold. It's not not cold here.
And just to make sure that the deflection goes somewhere-- ]
I could probably make you one. If you wanted.

[ Rinsing off the bowl, and then setting it aside. ]
It helps to have something to do, here.

I understand that feeling. Well, if you haven't seen it yet, there's a place you can dry that shirt here. There's a mechanical box that does it for you. Makes things very warm too.
[A dryer. She's talking about a dryer.]
no subject
[ ... ]
Where are you from? If that's...not weird to ask.
no subject
[She smiles a little in a way that says she knows she just gave a ton of information, that basically will mean nothing to them.]
Don't worry if you've never heard of it. I seem to be the only one from my world that Atroma has taken an interest in. I'm rather fine with that.
no subject
A world without dryers, huh?
[ It's supposed to be a joke, but it sounds a bit unsure-- they still don't know exactly how much they can get away with here. ]
no subject
[She smiles, because it's fine to joke.]
We usually just hang our laundry on a line and let the wind and sun do the work.
no subject
[ They're probably talking a lot, they realize; if they think of it as making up for their time in a body that spoke instead of them, maybe it's fine. ]
It was underground, so...no wind. Or sun.
...obviously.
no subject
[She looks absolutely fascinated. Even leans in a little, kind of peering, but realizes quickly what she's doing, and stands up straight.]
Sorry, um, back home there's a few off-shoots of races that live under ground and they usually are darker complected. By a lot.
no subject
Oh...it's weird, I know.
[ Maybe she just doesn't believe them. ]
