So I know a lot of people are getting sick, and I know that chicken soup is something a lot of people recommend back home. So I wanted to make soup, but I couldn't get any actual chicken, so I got fish. It's been tasted and called not bad.

So um. I have soup. If you're sick.

[This sounds really lame now that she's saying it out loud. Ah hell.]

Robin, I'm bringing you some. And anyone else I know who's sick. You're getting some.

[She goes to Varric's bar because he announced his first. And it is very comfortable for her tastes. She finds herself a table, and gets a pint of whatever. Then she starts drinking. For a more petite girl, she drinks very very well. And she'll be there a while. Until they ask her to go. She's really not used to bars that have closing times.]

You mean Vision? You’re right, it’s not normal, but… it’s not impossible either. My friend at home who is an android proved to be susceptible to one particular disease that theoretically should only infect organic beings.

Either way, it’s something Allen and I are both investigating. We have samples of the disease, as well as the cure, in case it ever crops up again.

[Her eyes are wide at the explanation. It's far more involved than she'd expected, far more impressive too.]

I don't know who Vision is actually, but all the rest sounds like you're right on top of everything. It's nice to know we're in capable hands.

[She takes a sip of her drink and winces a bit as it burns down the back of her throat.]

I'm sorry - this isn't exactly bar talk is it? I'm afraid I'm not very good at shutting my mind off to these things, here.

I completely understand. It's hard to not think about it, when you're in the middle of it.

Hmm, something lighter then. Umm. [Oh there's something!] That necklace is lovely. Was it a gift?

[Well. Sort of lighter. Still she smiles fondly and touches the pendant, which is a spiral seashell.]

Ladon gave it to me, not long before he left.

You're friends with Ladon?

[Present tense. He may be gone but not forgotten. And his name brings a smile, maybe a little sad at the edges.]

It's a lovely gift. He's a very kind person.

He is. I miss him a lot.

[Hopefully he's happier away from the fleet though.]

Me too. Did you know he made me pancakes once? Never had such a thing before in my life. Haven't since actually. But they were amazing.

I didn't know he cooks! But I'm not surprised he did that for you. Perhaps we can make some one day, in his honor.

[She smiles, warm and happy, but with that edge of sadness one gets when they miss someone.]

I'd really like that.

[She drinks her ale, and then shakes her head in a determined fashion.]

Quick pick something to talk about, I'm about to drag us back down to far too serious and sad things.

[That she can most definitely do. With a mischievous grin, she leans across the table towards Sye, chin in her hands.]

[Unexpected turn of events!

Syeira's eyes go a little wide and her cheeks go pink. Being a redhead is terrible when you're embarrassed.]

Me? No. No, no. No. That would be-

[Irresponsible. Foolish.]

I uh, don't really um...[She'll just...sip some more ale.]

Mmm-hmm.

[Beverly raises her eyebrows expectantly and sips her own drink, watching Syeira over the rip of her cup.]

[Syeira has endured a lot. Grief, loss, more loss, torture, even Hell.

But Beverly has touched on the one point in her dam that is leaking. And tapped it just so. As in, not at all subtly. Her mug is set down, elbows on the table and her fists over her eyes. Here comes the flood waters.]

Finrod. Adrasteius. Anders. Hawke, before he was gone. Robin. Aw, hell. There's... more but those are the worst.

[Beverly chuckles and reaches over to gently pull one of Syeira's hands away from your face. Poor girl.]

There's no need to be so embarrassed you know. In fact, I'd say you have very good taste.

It's terrible! I mean, it's easier with most because we're friends and we joke around. I know of that day anything, they don't actually mean it. And Adra is very like a parent sometimes.

But Finrod's the worst. He's so courtly and tall and handsome and kind and educated. Like what people think princes are like.

He is rather attractive isn't he?

And trust me, Finrod would undoubtedly be quite flustered if he heard this.

Flustered? Him? I doubt it. He'd probably pat my head and think nothing more of it. This probably happens to him all the time, silly girls getting doe eyed at him.

[The teasing expression is gone now: she would never embarrass Syeira like that.]

And I'm serious. Finrod is... Finrod is one of my best friends in the fleet. He's all the things you said but he can also be proud and he can be rash and our tempers are more than a match for one another... and I love him dearly for it. [She smiles again, this time without a trace of irony.] I'm not saying all this to give you a negative view of him, I'm telling you so you know he's not perfect, no one is. He's as perfectly capable of embarrassment as the rest of us.

I know he's not perfect. There's a lot he doesn't share, doesn't want to show. There's hurt in him, and pride, but also courage, strength, honor. It... comes of his flaws.

[And it just makes him more swoon worthy, okay. It's a problem.]
