[ As promised, in a few days time, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan make their way to the markets. They dress warmly, Obi-Wan procuring a thick cloak for himself. It's hard to feel like a Jedi Master without one.

He watches as Ahsoka flits from stall to stall as he lingers behind her, to correct her on her "bargaining" technique. In a way, they resemble a teenager, saddled with a wiser all-knowing uncle. He strokes his beard in light amusement. This is probably what he needed right now, a reassessment of his priorities, the here and now. ]

What we deserve is not for us to say, I'm afraid.

[ But it's not his intent to be harsh. ]

But you're not wrong. When we do get the chance, we should seize on it. It's just as important to know what we fight for.

[ With some humor. ] Such as the continued existence of candied apples.

[resnipstance]

[Her face brightens immediately.]

Exactly! [Ahsoka turns to the vendor and hands him a couple of credits for the apple she's already picked up, and thanks him once she's done. Then she turns back to Obi-Wan, holding her prize out.]

[ He almost says no. He's not in the habit of having sweets and the taste can be overwhelming, but today is an relaxed day, so he relents. ]

All right, but don't expect me to finish it.

[resnipstance]

[Well, it's got salt in it, so hopefully it won't be too sweet. She hands it over.]

I'd be mad if you did.

[beardstrokes]

Well, we wouldn't want that now, would we?

[ He takes a small bite. Certainly very different from the usual fare they receive. Obi-Wan chews on it quietly, before handing it back. ]

I wonder what else they have here.

[Ahsoka takes a much larger bite, then she tries to answer Obi-Wan's question-- but her teeth are stuck together from the candy. She makes a comical face, screwing up her nose, before continuing to chew and then swallow before trying again.]

There's all sorts of cool stuff! Even I haven't looked at it all yet...

A Jedi doesn't bother with possessions. I had hoped to speak to the boy, Kirito for what he calls a "light sword". But barring that, there's little else I wish to purchase.

[ He glances at a stall. They were selling jewelry. Nothing of expensive make, but creatively used. One pair catches his eye, with its thick long shape, curving at the end. With some effort, he pulled his gaze away. ]

... I was in the process of collecting parts to make myself a new lightsaber, before you guys came here. [She pauses oddly, then rushes on.] It's useless without a kyber crystal, though. I asked the Atroma for one, but they gave me rock candy instead.

[She makes a disgusted face. There-- let Obi-Wan think that was the reason she stopped her construction. In truth, the arrival of Anakin and Obi-Wan was a rude reminder of the reason she never made herself a new one back home, too. She's not really a Jedi anymore. What right does she have to a lightsaber?]

[beardstrokes]

[ He doesn't notice that. ]

Yes, unfortunately I doubt we'll find one. And I would worry if the Atroma could supply us with those.

[ He certainly doesn't want to consider how or where they would get them. ]

Perhaps I'll fashion myself a staff. The only issue with that is the amount of old man remarks I'll have to suffer from Anakin.

[Ahsoka chuckles. She can just imagine it.]

I don't know. I think it would make you look dignified!

[beardstrokes]

[ Wryly.] You'd be about the only one, I believe.

I should look for the materials for it here. It doesn't take very long to make.

[resnipstance]

Good thinking. I think all the parts shops are over this way. [Ahsoka alters course slightly, taking another bite of her apple as she does so. She chews as they walk, and Ahsoka spots a long stick on the ground, half buried in the snow-- some fallen twig or branch, no doubt. She picks it up with her free hand and twirls it idly by her side as they go.]

I'm looking for some stuff too. Let me know if you spot anything that might suffice for a temporal power converter.

And what, precisely, do you plan on using a temporal power converter for?

[ Why did Anakin have to pass on his tinkering habit. ]

[Ahsoka shrugs, a little sheepishly.]

Modifications for the ship. Captain Solo wants a race. So I thought I'd make the Starstruck go a little faster.

[As she says all this, Ahsoka's pace has slowed ever so slightly, and starts scribbling in the snow at their feet with her stick. Ever-so-lazily. As if she's just making random, lazy scribbles in the snow for the fun of it. In reality, she's writing in loose strokes of Aurebesh. Two words. "Communications jammer."]

[ He spends no longer than a few seconds on it before looking around. ]

That might be a bit tricky. I doubt they stock something that . . . advanced. Surely Anakin can help you put one together.

[resnipstance]

As if Anakin won't want to race himself.

... But you're right. I should ask him anyway.

[beardstrokes]

I'm sure if you mentioned Han Solo, Anakin can be motivated to do plenty of things.

[resnipstance]

Wait, really? Do they have some kind of beef...?

[beardstrokes]

They certainly aren't fond of each other. It's rather amusing, considering how alike they can be.

[ Both of them are hilarious overprotective. ]

But I'm sure Anakin would aid you either way. But it never hurts to have a little more pull over the situation.

[ They drift in and out of the stalls. ]

I thought maybe there might be one inside our ship's maintenance droid, but... I haven't been game enough to try. I know enough to fix a ship, but... putting a droid back together is a little bit outside my expertise.

[beardstrokes]

[ He grimaces. ]

I'm afraid that's not my expertise either. I barely know enough to get by and I've never been fond of droids.
