Who: Red Fish crew - Hange, Garak, Zhas and Coil
Broadcast: n/a
Action: On the Red Fish deck
When: shortly after the shuffle and Garak's arrival
[The ship is small enough that when their new crewmate appears, Hange can round up the boys just by taking a stroll through the ship and yelling.]
Zhas! Coil! We have a new recruit, let's meet in the galley!
[Time for everyone to get comfy with each other. And also, discuss ship upgrades, this seems like a convenient time to do that.]

Hange moves to the viewing deck after their meeting, doesn't sit down but takes a brief time to relax before her private conversation partners show up. Something about seeing all those stars... well, it pleases her. She's anxious to get home, but it's also made her happy to see all these humans, and slight variations of humans, in space here. Even if the population in her own world eventually disappears... worst case scenario... elsewhere in the universe, or multitude of universes, humans will survive.
She's pleased about that.
So, she just stays in place, staring out thoughtfully at the stars, posture relaxed. Thinking about Cecil too. An element of regret and worry that the younger woman is gone, and yet hopefully it's for the best. Hopefully, she's home and safe... though there's no way to be sure of that. The reality could be very dark, couldn't it?
But it doesn't bear dwelling on now. They must carry on, just like at home.
She turns to meet her approaching crewmate when they arrive, after the ten minutes are up, and smiles.]

As he walks, he thinks. Hange seems the most capable person, but this conversation will help him decide how much to speak to her. There's a sharp intelligence behind those glasses, that much is clear, and he'd do well to respect it. Zhas . . . not a threat, really. Possibly worth getting to know, but nothing to fear. And Coil is more a slight interest than anything.
No, it's Hange he must invest his time in right now. Once the ten minutes are up, he comes to the viewing deck, smiling as he sees the stars.]
Lovely, aren't they.

[After a moment she tenses barely perceptibly, pushing her shoulder blades back towards each other; the softest of clicks can be heard as she resettles something in her skeleton and then relaxes. That's better.]
So, Garak... what do you think?

A rather unusual crew, but given our circumstances, I can hardly pick and choose, can I? And I'd rather be trapped with those who have knowledge than fools.

[She's considered that on and off, although she hasn't committed yet.]
I'd rather we all felt comfortable, of course, and that it weren't necessary, but understand that you have the freedom.

What's your background like, Garak?

[He tips his head.]
And you? Military, yes, but that can mean oh so many things.

[She grins a little. More like an absent showing of teeth.]
As for me, I'm a scout. But I expect my experience in the military isn't quite like what you're envisioning.

And oh, there is so much I could tell you about titans! They're just so precious, once glimpse of their dreamy gentle smiles and they'll capture your heart forever! Titans vary from about 3-meter types to the biggest we've seen, sixty-meter types! Their innards are hot! So incredibly, unbelievably hot! If a human survives the grinding teeth, they'll undoubtedly be boiled to death in the stomach!
Titans don't eat due to hunger, no. We know this because when a titan fills its stomach, it won't stop eating and go away - instead it vomits out what it's consumed! Piles of humans to a one, men, women and children, haha!
[RLLY GETTING INTO HSI FACE HERE]

That being said, he is somewhat charmed. It's somewhat sociopathic, her sheer joy at these predators, but he can't deny the appeal of someone intelligent enough to research them. No wonder she's a scout, if she's so passionate; it must be a dream, to have initial access to them.]
Have you found what does drive them, then? They sound like no animal I've heard of.

He should be fine. No magic.

[She smooths out too. Eh... it seems like there's something going on here, but either he'll bring it up with her or it'll have to wait, since he doesn't respond well to digging.]
If there's a problem, let me know.

he'll wait to see if that's all... or if he's free to go.]

Do you think it's likely that your little friend will go running off to try and take on jobs on his own without letting anyone know?
no subject
He'd be good at it.
no subject
Obviously he'd probably work best with you, but I don't exactly feel secure about him going off alone. If things took a turn for the worse...
no subject
I understand.
