I think it's time I retire from teaching for a while.

I don't suppose anyone knows a decent way to pass the time?

[ When Stefan announced the prayer room, a quiet place for meditation, Obi-Wan had been thrilled. While he enjoyed and cared for the Huntress, quiet is not something they are known for. After talking to Anakin, he knew he was in dire need of quiet and inner peace

He does not regret ( he can not regret )

And yet.

In a way he had envisioned as a child, it had always been Master and Padawan, together. Even when separate, they fought together, learned together, believed in each other. But Qui-Gon died all too soon, and for so long, Obi-Wan threw his hands up against tradition. When Yoda told him to be Anakin's master, he chose to be Anakin's friend. He did not caution against attachment, only warned where it might lead.

He breathes heavily, his legs folded on the mat. It's not working. The Force is still too quiet, too alien at this moment. It doesn't understand his sorrow.

Obi-Wan chuckles, opening his eyes and pushing his hair back. It should be used to that by now.

Looking down at his hands, he's quiet when he speaks. ]

Training. Meditation.

Usually, I'm always busy. Moving from place to place, from conflict to conflict. Even when I was younger, I rarely had time to breathe it in.

As such, having time on my hands is a little strange.

Lot of that in the Fleet.

Learn a new skill. Those always take time to master.

That is the idea but I don't really know where to start.

I have acquired many skills over the years. Which is why I'm asking for suggestions.

I simply possess the skills to cook and knit adequately.

What kind of training would you be interested in?

honestly? anything that can stop me from thinking about myself.

a hobby where I can let go of needs and wants and possibilities.

I hear a Japanese stone garden would be good for that. Or maybe bonsai.

I'm afraid I do not know the meaning of those terms. Could you explain it to me, please?

It's supposed to be good for clearing your mind. I've never tried it.

What kind of situations is a Jedi Padawan expected to handle?

[ It's sad that this isn't voiced or videa footage. You will miss the full joy of Obi-Wan's deadpan. ]

I fell into a pit full of flesh-eating firebeetles when I was thirteen. For training purposes.

Ahsoka was spared from that. I imagine that kind of training will rankle for you, bringing children into dangerous situations.

Anakin both shielded and taught her well that she will survive on her own as her own person. She made her own choices. And that is what I expect of her or any other Padawan.

I understand where you're coming from. She's young. If she wants to face the horrors of war, that's her decision.

I know how capable she is. Even so, Mr. Kenobi, I won't lie. It doesn't sit right with me.

And it never will.

You do not come from a galaxy with Jedi. You have not seen us at our best and worst. For you, it will never feel right.

But for the galaxy, there is that Force of rightness that no one can deny. You may not agree with the methods, but you've met Ahsoka. And her existence is undeniable.
