[It starts recording without her realizing it. She's exploring her new surroundings cautiously. She places a hand on one of the cots and then pushes it through as if the cot weren't there at all. She removes her arm and both it and the cot are unharmed. Just testing her powers, don't mind her. She got worried when she realized her claws were missing.

Then she gets a better look at her communicator. It's a different model than she's used to.]

Is this another prison?

[It wouldn't be the first time the AIs sent them to a new facility. A space prison is as fitting as anything else, but there's usually some kind of message about it. This feels different.]

Is anyone from the Defense Force around? [Pause.] Or the X-Men. [She couldn't really be home though could she? In space?] Or anyone. Preferably someone with a light. [She can't find her lighter, but she still has a pack of cigarettes on her.]

(OOC: So, the coloring they used in AoA often makes her hair look reddish or blond, but I doubt the post-apocalyptic reality was really where she was going to start dying it. If you have known a Kitty Pryde, please just assume she looks like her—possibly younger or older. Shorter hair though. <3)

[Sounds about right.] You want to talk about it or should I comment on the stars or something and get us sidetracked?

[She grins around her cigarette, then shrugs.]

Whatever. I'm Chloe.

Kitty. [She adds a nod.] Nice day to be abducted, right? Or night.

Kitty, huh? [Chloe doesn't comment on the fact that she was pretty sure she had an elderly aunt named Kitty. Didn't everyone?]

I guess it could be worse. I've been waiting to get shuffled out into the fleet for a few days.

Hope you like boredom, cause this ship is full of it.

It's the best. Gives me lots of time to work on escaping as if no one here has ever tried that before.

[She lifted her hand with the cigarette to tap her knuckle against the glass, indicating all that nothingness out there.]

Escape to where?

Oh, well, sure if you're going to ask the hard questions... [She can't go home again and she can't just take herself back to the prison. Well, maybe she could, but on the outside? There could be a way to free them...all by herself.]

I'm sure some people want to go home.

Couple people I've talked to mentioned it, yeah.

I've got mixed feelings. Probably would be good for them though.

[Sacrificing to help protect others is kind of all she knows anymore. It was basically that or be a dancer.] What do you do at home?

[It was funny how such a simple question could hit a wound, and for a second, Chloe's face fell pretty hard as her mind went to the obvious and awful answer. 'What did she do at home? Die.' But she caught herself, hiding it as quick as she could behind taking a puff of her cigarette.]

Not much. Mostly caused trouble.

[Kitty watches, noticing...something.] You okay? [There are a lot of reasons not to be starting with this place. But when people don't want to go home it's usually either really, really bad there or they can't. For Kitty, it's both.]

[Chloe wishes she were better at hiding things, and after a second just shrugs.]

Yeah. Fine. You know how it is, right? Life can just get hella weird.

Figure there're worse places to be than some space fleet.

I can pretty much guarantee it. [It's the prison she's missing right now, not home. Although the almost-familiar faces have her thinking of home quite a bit.]

I was just joking about being the captain of a starship with someone a few days ago.

[Chloe grins.] Guess the universe was listening, huh?

My plans were actually all going really well till about ten minutes before I woke up here.

Then all the shit hit every fan.

It picked a weird time to start.

[Kitty tilts her head, thoughtfully.] People die? [You don't see the body count Kitty has without it coming to mind.]

Well it's probably got a twisted sense of humor.

[Chloe actually just sighs and slumps a little.]

Somethin' like that. I...mm.

[chloe manages a thin smile.]

Never mind.

Okay. Up to you. [It's not like the deal was for her lighter and her deepest, darkest secrets.] You're here now. That's what matters.

[Chloe's smile was genuinely grateful.] Thanks.

And yeah I am. And Max is here too. Was planning to find a way to take her on a fancy-ass super roadtrip.

[She knocks on the window.]

I think 'space cruise' probably gets me off the hook right?

I'd say it lets you off the hook and gets you some bonus points. [Also, why is her cigarette done? This is sad.]

[That is a tragedy. Chloe's been getting really good at nursing her cigarettes, so she's got about half left.]

Hopefully. She's been here for like, half a fuckin' year or something. [Chloe was still trying to understand that.] And I haven't seen her yet, since she's out there somewhere...

[She draws in a slow breath.]

But who knows. At least I'm pretty sure she doesn't have a boyfriend yet or somethin', right?

[And...puff puff.]

Oh. [Six months can be a pretty long time especially in a place like this.]

Was she your girlfriend?

[Shit she'd said that out loud.]

No. ...Maybe? Fuck I don't know. There was a kiss. Capital K kiss, even. Except...

[She's pretty sure Max doesn't know about it. Just the little k kiss. The blue haired girl sits up a bit and sighs.]

Man. I don't know. I guess it doesn't matter. I'll just be happy to see her either way.

[Chloe groans.]

Jesus, you are. Maybe it's just all this fucking time stuck on this ship mostly alone has me leaking out my feelings like a five year old who scraped her knee.

Downtime can be like that especially if you're not used to it and you have a lot of things to work through that you haven't had time for. [Story of her life at the prison really. She went from watching her students dying and shrugging off condolences to crying over a break up of all things. It's not that it was a greater loss. It's just suddenly she was able to cry for all of it and stopping was kind of hard without a world to get back to saving.]
