[The bunks are filling up, but the new faces just keep appearing!

Are you a travel-weary passenger having trouble keeping your crew roster straight? Perhaps you are a fresh new recruit, finding themselves dumped into a new (and much less shiny) home. Or, maybe you've been around for a little bit and just haven't bothered meeting the other weirdos on this ship yet--what is their problem, anyway?

Well, this is the place for you!

All new passengers from the last few Shuffles, especially those who haven't met their crews yet, are welcome to post starter-comments here to invite those living on and visiting your ship to come and interact. Newbies could be just arriving on the ship, busying around where others can find them, or you can offering multiple options for interaction--however you'd like to set up your thread is fine. Just make sure to include the name of your ship in the header, so your crewmates can easily find you!

Everyone else-- go meet those newbies! Whether they are new to your own crew, or on ships you frequently visit, now is a great time to bump into them.]

Shifts. [Right. Working on a spaceship. That's a thing he's going to be doing now.] Just-um. Are you...part of the whole yanking people into space thing? Or you just another casualty?

You didn't think they'd only get humans, right? I mean, I get that you guys are everywhere, but c'mon.

Yeah, well, before like...today, I hadn't had any close encounters of the first kind before and now I'm already at the fifth kind. It's a giant leap for one day. So. [He shrugs.] Where you from?

[resnipstance]

Depends. Are you asking where was I born, or where I grew up? Different planets.

[bigvessel]

Right. Because people just hop planets like they're states. Alright. Shoot 'em both off. [Chances are probably pretty good he won't know either, unless they're all his solar system which would be nice to know, actually.]

[resnipstance]

Well, it's not as simple as that. Interplanetary travel is expensive, so most people can't afford it on a regular basis. The only people who travel between systems regularly like that are people like... the military, political leaders and diplomats, extremely rich people... traders and smugglers, pirates... and the Jedi!

But since you asked. My homeworld is called Shili. I only lived there until I was three, though. I grew up on Coruscant.

[Well, he was right. Those planets mean nothing to him but, one word there definitely catches his attention.]

Waitwait. I-I'm sorry, but did you just say Jedi? Like, "May the force be with you" Jedi? You're just messing with me, aren't you?

[resnipstance]

Why would I be messing with you? [Teasingly:] Of course that kind of Jedi. Is there another kind I don't know about?

[bigvessel]

Uh. Because it's not real? [Yeah, he's still not sure here. And that's just how nuts his life has turned in a single day that he can't tell if she's being serious about a Jedi or not.]

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka just looks at the guy like he's grown a second head.]

... What? ... Of course the Jedi are real. Who told you they aren't real?

[bigvessel]

[Okay. That looks a little more genuine.

Right then.]

And are you one of them?

[resnipstance]

[She frowns.]

... I was. But I left.

[bigvessel]

What? [And he makes a face okay, because every kid wants to be Jedi. Hell, even he has played lightsaber a few times.] Why would you leave?

[resnipstance]

Philosophical disagreement.

[And that's all she's going to say about that. Anything else is too heavy for a first conversation. She changes subjects without missing a beat.]

Do you want to see more about how the ship works?

What? Lightside not cool enough for you?

[Because the Darkside is bad news, girl.]

Yeah, please. [And he gestures to her to show him around.]

[Ahsoka just raises one eyebrow at his question, as if to say "Seriously?"]

Do you really want to get into that right now?

[She reaches over to the autopilot command.] Well, first lesson first: this is the autopilot.

Well, I wouldn't mind the story. But first, can you do the lightsaber thing? Or can use the force on something? [Yeah, sometimes he's still a kid at heart, and you've got him all excited Ahsoka.

It makes it a little hard to focus on the controls-though a lot of it is just...knowledge that he just seems to have.]

It's a pretty depressing story. Most people don't like to hear it.

And our lightsabers were all confiscated on arrival. But I suppose for a crew-mate I can manage something.

[She sighs, standing. Then she holds a hand out and levitates him a few feet in the air. Not meanly, though. It's gentle, smooth.] ... Satisfied?

[bigvessel]

Well, that's just wrong. [To take a lightsaber away when he could actually play with one. Just another reason to hate the assholes that brought them here.]

Woah. [That's only slight panic as he's slowly levitated off the ground, but as soon as he realizes what she's doing he's grinning broadly, even swinging a foot at the air.] Okay. That's officially amazing.

[resnipstance]

[She lets him down equally gently with a wry sort of smile.]

Happy to impress.

[bigvessel]

So, that was the force? I was just force'd? That's kind of awesome. [Just give him a second to get over that whole fantasy come to life thing.]

Right. Okay. So. The navigation.

[resnipstance]

That was the Force. I don't know if it can be made into a verb like that, though...

[She chuckles.]

All right. Most ships have a nav-computer, but... surprise! This one doesn't. At least, not that I can see. Our general course seems to be plotted by the Marsiva-- when you're flying, all you have to do is follow it. Otherwise, you have free motion. But you can't go more than a day out of reach in any direction. Trust me, I've tried.

[bigvessel]

Yeah, doesn't really sound that appropriate out loud, does it?

[Still, he smirks at her anyway, before his arms cross over his chest and he eyes the panel with a serious nod.]

Right. Of course. Most ships have that... [Uhuh.]

So. You've tried hijacking the ship and what happens?

[resnipstance]

Once you get about 24 hours out, the ship controls lock and auto-pilot takes over. Takes you back to the rest of the fleet. Nothing you can do to override it. At least, that we know of.

...

I'm always open to suggestions. You know, short of actually breaking the ship.

[bigvessel]

Huh. [Well, that's. Definitely an inconvenience.

But there's something about the way she says that that has him tilting his head at her slightly.] You're not the captain, are you?
