Chocolate-flavored Dessert Cream on the House

[The bunks are filling up, but the new faces just keep appearing!

Are you a travel-weary passenger having trouble keeping your crew roster straight? Perhaps you are a fresh new recruit, finding themselves dumped into a new (and much less shiny) home. Or, maybe you've been around for a little bit and just haven't bothered meeting the other weirdos on this ship yet--what is their problem, anyway?

Well, this is the place for you!

All new passengers from the last few Shuffles, especially those who haven't met their crews yet, are welcome to post starter-comments here to invite those living on and visiting your ship to come and interact. Newbies could be just arriving on the ship, busying around where others can find them, or you can offering multiple options for interaction--however you'd like to set up your thread is fine. Just make sure to include the name of your ship in the header, so your crewmates can easily find you!

Everyone else-- go meet those newbies! Whether they are new to your own crew, or on ships you frequently visit, now is a great time to bump into them.]

I'm not really sure. [But, if his gladdened expression is anything to go by, that's half the fun of it. He's stirring together some gel and cubes, and then adding a little more of something gooey.] I just know that I like it. It's all very new to me.
survivalistcookbook: (grin down)

no prob!

The protein gel? Yeah, it's . . . something, all right.

[He has to smile to himself at that, resting his chin on his hand.]

Have you found a favourite yet?
paraclete: (all that i've said to get it right)

[personal profile] paraclete 2016-02-14 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
I think I especially like... [There's a pause, like Kaworu's trying to remember which one delighted him most. Then he lights up.] Vanilla? [he says tentatively, guiding some more of his terrible concoction onto his spoon.] I never knew there were flavors like that. The chili was also exciting, in a different way.

You didn't-?

[Okay, back up. Eugene's used to vanilla being a pretty default flavour, so finding someone who it's new to? That catches his attention.]

Wait a minute. What exactly do you eat, where you come from?
paraclete: (with a perfume of violets)

[personal profile] paraclete 2016-02-14 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, not that Kaworu really eats much... It's not a necessity to him, and the sustenance he's seen for the better part of fourteen years was bland enough that he didn't really bother. But while he's not very subtle about his Angelic nature, he doesn't exactly want to go around shouting HEY, I'M ABNORMAL!, either. So...]

There were pastes similar to what I'm finding here, but their flavoring was less varied. They were limited to substitutes for meat and vegetables, though I don't think they tasted very similar to what they were replacing.

Oh- geez. So our setup is actually a step up for you?

[He's on his feet - foot, sort of, the left being not much more than a curved flipper of metal - and joining him within seconds, reaching for a plate and spoon of his own.]

Let me try something, okay? I want to see if you like a lot of the tried-and-true combinations that have ended up being pretty popular.
paraclete: (and to a place divine)

[personal profile] paraclete 2016-02-14 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
You could say that. Well, I've had things in the past... That is... Chips and noodles. But that was a long time ago.

[Clearly, though, Kaworu's willing to try anything — and it's uncommon for people to pay attention to him. Shamefully, it feels nice. This person, he thinks, must be very kind.]

Sure. I don't mind whatever you want to do.

Well- far be it from me to disparage chips and noodles. But as one of the cooks on this ship, I'm going to have to insist on broadening your palate a little bit, here.

[He's carefully rotating the plate around the protein dispenser, working on small taster-sized combinations of proteins one at a time, until there's a miniature buffet by way of abstract expressionism in front of him, which he sets down proudly.]

All right then. The taster menu for today: meat-texture chicken with peanut and chili gels, pumpkin spice dry-solid with vanilla soft-solid, mixed vegetable meat-texture with curry gel, and individual dabs of soft-solid banana, cherry, and strawberry heavily dusted with chocolate powder. Tell me what you think.
