[ It's another day, another planet for the Drift Fleet to explore. Whether it be relaxing in the landing field, checking out the spa (and subsequently getting urged to enter the woods), or taking on the Enchanted Forest's game, there's enough to do for stir-crazy Fleet members.

Just remember one thing: make it look good. ]

[oh, yes. basking is just not the same unless it's with a kindred spirit.

and he's only wearing a towel at the moment because it is cold out there. it's certainly not going to last long. he's brought back a few bottles from the vending machines outside, and begins to line them up on the floor a little ways from the edge of the pool.]

You know... if you brave the outdoor world just a little bit, there's a small building on the far side of the springs that is there just for baking in the heat. Did you know?

Is there.

[This is entire nonsexual, of course-- but there's something delightful about the wrap of Tek's towel around his hips. Garak allows himself to drink in the sight for a few moments as the other man speaks.]

Well. Perhaps it's worth the trip after all-- though I'm surprised you indulged in it.

[Tek does have lovely angles to his hips. he's particularly proud of them. he's spent a lot of time on those precise shapes.]

I didn't spend much time there, I'll admit. Just long enough to learn how it works--water poured over hot stones.

The heat was nice, but I prefer the water.

[and, with the last bottle lined up, he heads for the edge of the pool]

[Oh, gosh. Garak keeps staring openly-- if Tek appears uncomfortable, he'll stop, but he's not about to pass up a free show if Tek doesn't mind.]

What a lovely thing, to have the luxury of choice. I was starting to think I might simply hibernate if left too long on that icy planet.

[if there is anything that Tek absolutely adores, it is being admired. Garak can stare all he wants, and Tek most certainly notices. he doesn't hesitate for a moment when he leaves his towel on the floor and slides into the water.]

Oh, it was awful, wasn't it? And I'd already done enough hibernating because of the planet before that.

Be glad you missed that one.

Now, now-- if I know one thing, it's that humans don't hibernate.

[He keeps up that admiring glance, of course, but his smirk goes a little sharper as he false chides the other man.]

Either keep up appearances or commit to being what you are, my dear.

[he sinks right down into the water until it reaches up to his chin, eyes slinking closed to happy little slits. at least he's comfortable enough around the other man to feel as though he doesn't have to watch him every second.

and his smirk widens to mirror the other.]

Oh, but I thought you liked this face.

Oh, I do. It's a lovely face. But there's something to be said for being proud of what you are.

Oh, I'm plenty proud. But I also like dressing up.

...I certainly don't wear it to hide.

[parricida]

Then I suppose I'll simply have to wait for my opportunity for you to show yourself off.

[A beat. Wryly:]

More than you currently are.

[heresyandlace]

[a low little hum.]

Speak for yourself.

[parricida]

Oh, clothing.

[He waves his hand airily, his smirk growing.]

Cardassians aren't nearly so fussy as other species. This is hardly vulgar.

[heresyandlace]

[he was referring to more than just his lack of clothing, but he won't broach that topic just yet. he'll just settle for curiously eyeing the other creature in the meantime.]

Mm, our clothing habits are purely copying the human habit for them.

We don't wear them at all in our natural state.

[parricida]

Oh, no? I don't know about that. There's something quite fun about decorating oneself, wouldn't you say?

[heresyandlace]

Oh, don't get me wrong. I love clothing. I'm a big fan of ornamentation in general, really.

[if that wasn't obvious enough from the guy who wears makeup and nail polish whenever he can manage]

But it's not a trait common among my people. ...The vast majority of them could honestly stand to learn a thing or two about having fun, and enjoying the little things in life.

[parricida]

But you do. What makes you different, might I ask?

I'm something of a nonconformist.

[parricida]

Not always the most popular thing to be.

[heresyandlace]

No. My family and I don't generally get along.

[he stretches his arms, now that he's warming up--working out whatever lingering bits of tension might have been left in his shoulders]

What about you? Do you like to follow the straight and narrow?

[parricida]

Oh, undoubtedly. My government is rather harsh towards those who don't.

[heresyandlace]

Oh, that is a shame.

[--either toward the harshness of the government, or Garak's supposed compliance with it.]

...So you agreed with whatever regime they enforced, then?

[parricida]

Oh, undoubtedly. Their methods were harsh, but I can't deny believing in their cause: that Cardassia is the pinnacle of civilization.

[It's hard to say if he's earnest or not.]

It sounds like quite a place.

[and now that he has warmed up a little, he finally pushes himself up just enough to reach over and pluck one of the little bottles from the lineup. he rolls it in his hand, reading what little bit of text is on the label.]

What was it like there?

[parricida]

Oh, wonderful. Each person had their role, their place in the State . . . and the weather was always wonderfully hot and humid. The cities are built magnificently-- our architecture is something we've been visited for on occasion.

And of course, we're magnificent conquerors.

[sliding a glance over from the bottle in his hand.]
