[ It's another day, another planet for the Drift Fleet to explore. Whether it be relaxing in the landing field, checking out the spa (and subsequently getting urged to enter the woods), or taking on the Enchanted Forest's game, there's enough to do for stir-crazy Fleet members.

Just remember one thing: make it look good. ]

I'm curious... [She rolls in the water, so she's partly floating on her back, legs stretched out but also crossed at the knee. If she arranges herself just right she can rest her head and the back of her neck on the rock rim and not go floating off or sinking.]

[he is content to stay where he is, thank you.]

[He can enjoy the view, and also observe the further striping. One goes horizontally across her chest, above her breasts. There are others slanting over her sides, her thighs, down her legs.]

With all that hype, maybe I was...

It's part of my gear from home. No flares with it, I suppose that would be too easy. Maybe you'd have better luck.

[She hums and settles into the water. She's still thinking about things... and in a moment she speaks again, meditative.]

It seems like a lot of fuss to build up to for all this.

Well... [he drags back a little, letting his torso sink back into the water, pulling his arms as he goes...] If we're staying here the whole month, like it seems we may be, then there is still plenty of time for something to go horribly, horribly wrong.

Haha! Very true, very true. Maybe the next surprise will be the trees uprooting us and coming to get us themselves.

[She makes a pfffft noise]

How did that happen?

The earth got mad, back home. [he smiles about it, despite saying she shouldn't joke about it.] It's not an exact science, but there was an incredible distortion of spiritual energy, followed by semi-sentient trees. The forests of my continent have a bad habit of strangling people to death and absorbing their corpses.

[She smiles too...]

What a shame. At home, the forest is probably the safest place to be outside the walls, if you're properly equipped.

Ah, well. My forests are probably safer than open ground too. I've come to believe our surface is... Unforgiving, compared to most.

Have the forests calmed down since their people-eating days?

Ah, a little. Still people-eating, but not so aggressively.

I suppose people went at them with fire and sword? Or no?

They do now. It's still a challenge, though.

I imagine they've figured out a few tricks for it anyway.

Yes, yes. I'd say it probably won't happen here, but this forest is more lively than most that I've seen lately.

I wonder how it manages it? Maybe the samples I take will eventually display these properties if I grow them too. I suppose an expanse of greenery this large has a plethora of connections... you could make a comparison to brain tissue...
