[ It's another day, another planet for the Drift Fleet to explore. Whether it be relaxing in the landing field, checking out the spa (and subsequently getting urged to enter the woods), or taking on the Enchanted Forest's game, there's enough to do for stir-crazy Fleet members.

Just remember one thing: make it look good. ]

[For what it's worth, Finrod is making an attempt to be less intimidating than he might be. He's ditched Princely Mode for the moment, at least.]

Because of the transmissions, I assume? It is suspicious, certainly. Like as not, we were meant to come here, which does not bode well. Yet what can one do in such circumstances, but reap what benefits we are able?

[when you're tall, blonde, and stately... there's only so much you can do to really shut off Princely Mode to someone like Nel. he still fidgets like he feels he shouldn't even be sitting this close to this guy. like he's trespassing.]

[That... actually gets a surprised pause. He actually blinks at Nel for a few seconds.]

[A chuckle] No, I speak of knowledge of the forest itself and how to live from it- how to hunt, how to track, how to find shelter.

[kind of a tight, surprised little laugh]

[A slight smile] It is something of a necessary skill where I am from.

You needn't agree if you do not wish to. I simply thought it might be useful to you- and that it might ease your fears somewhat.

Well... is it dangerous?

Not inherently, no. Here? Perhaps I should investigate the forest myself first. [Not that he's expecting something to go horribly wrong. Nooooope. Not at all.]

[he nods, maybe a little too eagerly]

--Because the wilderness where I'm from is, like... really dangerous.

How so? Do you speak of more than the typical dangers- wild animals, hazardous terrain, orcs, and the like?

[he nods! at least he's somewhat used to this concept apparently confusing people now.]

Oh yeah, no one leaves the city walls because of it. It's super-deadly. There's monsters and stuff, and they talk about the trees themselves having gone crazy.

...Even the trees and parks inside the city are watched closely because of it.

The trees themselves? [There's curiousity in his tone, but also a hint of sorrow. If what he suspects is true, it's a great loss for Nel's world.]

Where I am from, there are beings which resemble trees, save that they may walk and speak much as any other race. They watch over those which lack their gifts- Shepards of the Trees, tending their flocks. Ents, we call them, though they have a much longer name in their own tongue. It almost sounds as though you describe similar creatures who have descended into madness.

[yeah, that description is not putting Nel at ease, at all. it not only matches up with the stories that he's heard... but it's also close enough to the honest truth of things to be frightening.

Nel's world is ailing, staggering along at the end of its days, and every creature knows it in some deep, quite part of themselves.]

All I know for sure is that it's all dangerous outside the city. The forest will kill you for being there.
