the word of the day is "paranoia"
Who: Kirito / OTA
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Hiding out in engineering on the Paisley, if you so desire
When: Now!
[So, this is something he's been wondering - and eventually, seriously considering - for the last couple of months, mostly when they landed on Arslae and he realized how ill-equipped he is to deal with conflict. For most people, it would simply be a matter of avoiding fights. But for him... well. It's kind of all he's ever been good for.
Getting told that, hey, one of your crewmates is a murderer is more or less the last straw to break through his indecisive camel back.]
I have a question, mostly for whoever's gotten personal those personal augment upgrades you can buy, or at least thought about it. I'd really like to know- what's it like? Which did you choose? Why would you choose to get one- or why not? I mean, the people offering them up aren't exactly trustworthy, but they all sound pretty useful, too.
Basically, I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons. I'd appreciate the help.

[He's not too interested in that.]
[ Video ]
Stat boosts sound more reliable, anyway.
[ Which is probably why his Persona never had elemental magic. ]
[ Video ]
I know, right? Magic is cool and all, but you really can't beat a solid strength build. Makes you feel good and tough.
[Look, this is really important when you're a small, scrawny nerd.]
[ Video ]
Yeah, I get that. I'd rather trust something physical over magic, in the end.
[ Video ]
[He is not going to get caught badmouthing his mages. They can absolutely kick his ass.]
[ Video ]
[ Shinjiro shakes his head slightly. ]
It's just not for me, that's all.
[ Video ]
[Gotta respect.
Anyway-]
You're new, right? To the Paisley.
[Now he recognizes the kitchen.]
[ Video ]
Yeah, just got here a few days ago. I'm your, uh, other lab support guy.
[ Because he is, by no means, trying to replace Stefan. ]
My name's Shinjiro.
[ Video ]
[Kinda.]
It would probably be more polite for me to come up and do this in person, though.
[ Video ]
[ But convenient. ]
I'm in the medical bay if you want to meet in person.
[ Video > Action]
[Aaand give him, like, ten minutes, and Kirito is in the med bay doorway, rapping his knuckles on the frame.]
Hey.
[ Action]
Hey. So you're another one of my... crewmates, right?
[ Action]
[Also sorry for one day bleeding on your med bay floor, because with him, that's inevitable.]
[ Action]
This is reality television, right? I'd almost expect things to go to hell once in a while.
[ Action]
Yeah, the whole place did that within a month of me getting here. I was still getting used to the job and suddenly there's this big firefight and the whole system shut right down.
[ Action]
That's the kind of shit I can expect, huh?
[ Action]
[ Action]
I ain't too worried about it, anyway. There's worse things than a possible trial by fire.
[ Action]
[You could be facing death - or Death! - night after night. The occasional space dogfight and a lack of decent food is not the end of the world.]
Drama aside, how are you settling in? I know it gets kind of overwhelming at the start.
[ Action]
This place ain't so bad. Space is new and weird, but it's still more normal here than the last world I got dragged into against my will.
[ Not that he'd hated Aather, but it was... weird. ]
[ Action]
[ Action]
I was in a world called Aather for a while. It was a little like a fantasy world, including a big, bad evil threat.
[ Action]
[There sure are a lot of them out there.]
There's tons of people in the fleet that were in a similar situation. Not necessarily the same type of world, but yeah. It's very strange.
[ Action]
Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. I wonder how many different worlds people here have been to?
