[Luke is sitting on the bridge of the Blameless, eyes bright.] Hello! I'm Luke Skywalker. [He waves.]

I was trying to think of a better way to ask this, but I realized it doesn't matter, does it? If the Atroma really watch our every move... [He cocks his head to the side, a tiny shrug.] Well, you know.

Anyway, I've heard of people disappearing from the fleet. Have you ever noticed anyone disappearing after doing something that might have made the Atroma angry? [Someone's feeling ballsy today. The defiant smirk on his face kind of backs up that interpretation.]

[He almost shuts the feed off before remembering-] Oh! One more thing... I've been talking people here, and most of the ones I've met are from systems-- planets-- without spaceflight technology. Some even without flight technology. I was wondering... well, I was going to ask if there was anything I should know about that, but I don't even know where to begin asking! I can't even imagine it.

PRIVATE TO SS BLAMELESS CREW:

Hello, this is Luke. [He'd like to think he's on a first name basis with his crew, right?] I just wanted to thank everyone who voted this week. The results were in my favor, but... Azula, you definitely gave me a run for it!

And I wanted to welcome our new crewmates! Sara Lance is our newest security officer, and- [He pulls up the roster again-] Oh, good; we finally have a pilot. Carswell Thorne is their name? It's nice to have you aboard!

[After these announcements are broadcast, you can easily find Luke on the Blameless' bridge, sitting in the captain's chair, staring out the window, levitating what looks like a ballpoint pen over his open palm, and generally looking extremely bored.]

You arrived at the beach because what kind of prison doesn't have a beach, right? And you mentioned being from a desert planet and moisture farming which I'm still pretty sure isn't a real thing. [There's a little smile. She doesn't actually doubt it. She might not normally remember even that much about someone she only talked to once in the prison, but it hadn't been that long ago and she'd had a good vibe from him. Kind of like she does now.]

It is. [He smiles back, able to tell she's joking.] I could build you a moisture vaporator right now, if you wanted.

[But if she's chill with having known him, he'll be chill with it too. He calms, a bit, and thinks.] A beach prison. I guess swimming to freedom wasn't an option.

It wasn't all a beach, but no, there was a dome around everything. I couldn't even phase through it. [Which as she says this she can't remember if she mentioned having mutant powers last time or not.]

[He's seen stranger things, but it's worth asking.]

Almost everything else. [She's found limitations here and there with especially dense materials. Sometimes it's just a matter of being willing since it can become painful.]

I'm a mutant. [Not that she really expects this to mean to Luke what it means to her.] Intangibility is my power.

Oh, that's your species? [What an odd coincidence that it sounds like the Basic word for 'mutant'.] I thought you were human! Sorry about that.

[She does usually deny being a human, but for accuracy's sake and maybe for her fellow mutants since she's not the only one around.] We're humans with an X-gene, a mutation. We usually have powers. Sometimes there are differences in our physical appearance like being blue and fuzzy with a tail.

...Oh. [Well, he's never heard of that before, but whatever, he's never heard of lots of stuff before. Space is big.] Is that mutation common, in your system- er, planet? [Everyone says 'planet' here, how weird.]

My power? Phasing? Nope. Never met anyone else who could. Doesn't mean there aren't some though. Not until the prison anyway and there were maybe five other people with a similar power? Knocked some of the special right out of me. [She smirks.]

[Exasperated groan.] Is everyone from Earth?

Mutation is rare-ish. I mean, most of the people I know there are mutants, but it's not because there are a ton. [Though the ratio in her world is tilting toward their favor because of all the human genocide...]
