I was trying to think of a better way to ask this, but I realized it doesn't matter, does it? If the Atroma really watch our every move... [He cocks his head to the side, a tiny shrug.] Well, you know.

Anyway, I've heard of people disappearing from the fleet. Have you ever noticed anyone disappearing after doing something that might have made the Atroma angry? [Someone's feeling ballsy today. The defiant smirk on his face kind of backs up that interpretation.]

[He almost shuts the feed off before remembering-] Oh! One more thing... I've been talking people here, and most of the ones I've met are from systems-- planets-- without spaceflight technology. Some even without flight technology. I was wondering... well, I was going to ask if there was anything I should know about that, but I don't even know where to begin asking! I can't even imagine it.

PRIVATE TO SS BLAMELESS CREW:

Hello, this is Luke. [He'd like to think he's on a first name basis with his crew, right?] I just wanted to thank everyone who voted this week. The results were in my favor, but... Azula, you definitely gave me a run for it!

[Such cheerful wow.]

And I wanted to welcome our new crewmates! Sara Lance is our newest security officer, and- [He pulls up the roster again-] Oh, good; we finally have a pilot. Carswell Thorne is their name? It's nice to have you aboard!

[After these announcements are broadcast, you can easily find Luke on the Blameless' bridge, sitting in the captain's chair, staring out the window, levitating what looks like a ballpoint pen over his open palm, and generally looking extremely bored.]

Why would you put a flag on it?

I don't think they're giving out tickets to the moon just yet. As I understand it, it took a substantial amount of effort to get the one crew there to begin with.

[At that, he smirks.]

To stake your claim as the first one there, of course. Humans have been doing it for a very long time. Usually in the name of conquest.

Oh, you're that far behind. I'm sorry; I didn't know.

Your planet must be very densely populated. Tatooine didn't have enough people living on it to really make countries... Then again, I think it becomes hard to maintain borders when you can fly to the other side of the planet in a day.

[grandstanding]

"Hard to imagine", indeed.

[He knows they're behind the times, but space travel is not one of the issues he feels the most need to update. The moon looks pretty dull, anyway. At least from the photos he's seen.]

I find the idea of somewhere without borders very odd.

Really? I've never been to a planet with them before, but I've only been to a few... Are they important, on your world?

[grandstanding]

Oh yes. Plenty of wars are fought over them.

But then, maybe it's a concept that changes, when you can actually leave your planet and find another one.

Really? That seems like such a waste over something so small. But- no, it must seem very large to a planet without spaceflight, I'm sorry.

[grandstanding]

Are you finding it difficult to adjust your thinking to this scale?

[t65]

A little... [He winces apologetically.] I had a skyhopper when I was twelve, I could go anywhere I wanted if I had enough fuel. [He didn't. Fuel was expensive and the skyhopper wasn't for play, but he's trying to make a point. His context is too wide for this.]

[grandstanding]

And you were just allowed to go off on your own at that age?

[His own childhood may have been cut short, but he's fairly certain most twelve year olds weren't given free reign over vehicles where he's from.]

[A guilty wince.] Not... according to my aunt and uncle, no.

[grandstanding]

Oh, dear. [He sounds concerned.] You're not good with boundaries at all, are you.

Is anyone when they're twelve?

[grandstanding]

I imagine some are. I don't know that many twelve year olds at the moment.

Well, imagine the most bored one you know, and give them a skyhopper. It's a bad formula.
