[Dorian spends a fair deal of time poking around the ship before deciding to try out sending a broadcast. He's not entirely certain how he knows how to use the device, only that he does, and that almost unnerves him.

Still, his voice is pleasant, almost chipper.]

Well, if this isn't a curious little jaunt that I didn't exactly expect to take this afternoon. I do hope someone might be able to enlighten me as to where, exactly, I am...and when, for that matter. ...and where one might find passable reading material would also be appreciated.

[Fenris doesn't much care for new arrivals. He hasn't the patience to explain things to them, new as he is to the Fleet. But a Tevinter accent is enough to make him pay attention. He squints at the man on the screen, trying to decide how much of a threat he is. Without the staff, it's hard to tell if he's a mage or not. He looks fairly well off, though, so Fenris is going to assume the worst.

The last time he threatened someone, Merrill got in the way of things, so he decides instead, to speak in Tevene. Work out how much of a threat this is without her or Varric coming in and trying to convince him otherwise. It's for their own good, really.]

You're on a ship and I'm afraid I can't help you with finding anything interesting to read.

[Curious, very curious. Dorian wishes he could see more of the other person, study them, figure them out a bit, but the communication was lacking for that.

Tevene is both a welcome tongue, and one that he speaks with the warm caution of a magister. He knows how to play the games that speakers of Tevene need, though he finds them loathsome.]

So it would seem. But not so quite alone as I had thought, apparently.

[Well, interesting, but not entirely surprising.]

[Well, that's a pretty chill reaction. He can deal with this.]

Oh yes, a spaceship, to be more precise. The majority of us are on a number of smaller ones. I'm Belthazor and I would say I'm pleased to meet you, but I don't know yet.

[Such is the way of the communicator. Fenris is glad for the experience Exsilium gave him in such matters.]

Do not fool yourself. Tevinter has not been a home for me for many years. I would sooner watch it burn.

Well, if I were to meet myself for the first time, I would certainly consider it a pleasure. Take that as you will.

[Now we're getting somewhere. Interesting, indeed.]

Truly? Curious. It hasn't been my home for some time, as well. They don't seem to appreciate it when you don't play by their rules.

[This is...different. It's not the usual games the mages play, and he's not sure how to deal with it. His guard is up, for certain, but there's curiosity there, too. Under all the seething hatred.]

No, they do not. Even when they do not realise that their rules will be their undoing. That they will undo the entirety of Thedas if things went their way.

I'll take that if I ever find a clone of you, never shall you two meet or I feel you will never be seen again because you'll spend all your time fawning over yourself and die of neglect.

You're on the Marsiva. I was there until recently myself, but I was transferred to the Wonderduck. I'm sure you'll end up on another ship with more people soon enough.

[It's odd, having someone speak to him in Tevene and agree with some of his sentiments.]

That they would. There needs to be a great change in Tevinter, or it will remain a nest of vipers that will consume itself from the inside.

[He rolls through the house names in his head, the names, as a slave, he had to know. You need to know, after all, exactly how to not offend such-a-magister, or risk your master's wrath. Danarius's wrath was something no sane person would attempt to bring upon themselves, so his slaves learned. And fast. After a while, he places it. ]

[He studies the feed for a moment, and then nods softly.]

[He has a dozen theories, narrowing them down. An elf, who hates Tevinter, more than likely a slave. Dorian could tiptoe around that issue for the moment- he recalled how one such elf reacted when they discussed that exact issue. The Inquisitor, a slim, Dalish man with eyes like the rift itself, didn't seem to share Dorian's sentiments.]

I seem to have had the dubious pleasure of being dropped into the future before- who can say for certain what is possible with such magic?

[He sighs and facepalms.]

That wasn't the type of neglect I meant. You're as bad as some of the demons I know.

Truly? How curious! I'm not certain whether to take that as a compliment or be insulted.

Most would take that as an insult, but you're a strange one. Not nearly as strange as me, mind you, but you certainly are trying.

I don't think I'm overly strange. Remarkable, yes, and fascinating, with a fantastic sense of style? Also yes.

[That's...weird. But at least that sounds like it was accidental rather than intentional. Maybe.]

I'm not sure magic's to blame for this.

But it's safe to say, you're likely not even in the same dimension as your home. Or time, for that matter.

No, you're definitely strange. [Says the insane demon.] It's too early to tell on the rest besides the sense of style. That I can confirm is being very generous.
