[Misty still isn't much one for routines or schedules, but she does more or less keep up with her job of cleaning the ship and making sure the lights stay on. However, her technique of dealing with vermin probably leaves much to be desired. She's following Rhiannon (the official name of her droid, of course it is) around, and when the droid catches a space-rat (or at least, that's what we think it is???) Misty quickly rescues the poor thing and coos at it, cuddling it in her palm. While pretty much anyone else would get promptly bitten, the rodent settles its ugly little self into her hands and starts contentedly washing its ears.]

Aww yeah see, I ain't gonna hurt you none. We're gonna find you a nice home, yes we are!

[Officer Snuggles comes bounding along the hall, having sniffed out the rat, and yips excitedly. Thanks for catching his dinner for him, Misty! Saves him some time.

Wrath follows much more slowly, leaning heavily on her cane--her stupid back.]

Stand down, Snuggles.

[The fox sits and goes quiet.]

Hi, Misty!

[Beaming at the other woman, Misty settles the rat on her shoulder, where it starts nibbling on her hair.]

Mornin' Wrath, mornin' Snuggles.

[She looks down at the fox. Whether it's because of her magic or just that he's well-trained, he seems to be paying close attention.]

Now, now I know you're just doin' what foxes are supposed to do - I ain't gonna hold it against you. But this here is my friend so you gotta not eat him, okay?

Hmmm. [She wishes everyone could get along, but Wrath's gotten a realistic idea about training the fox since she's been working with him.]

He won't try to eat your friend now but... you've got a cage for him or her, right? Cause I don't think I can get him to differentiate between prey when he's on patrol

Don't worry, he'll stay in my room.

[That doesn't exactly answer the question does it?]

[Hey, she's not the space rat police.] Okay! So long as you keep him or her safe somewhere, they won't get eaten.

[Misty smiles and starts to say something but then! The robot starts beeping again and zooms off.]

Oh shit! Rhiannon's picked up another one!

Another what? What's wrong with your robot?

Another one of these rat things!

[She starts off after the droid.]

C'mon! We gotta get it before she does!

I could send Snuggles! [Who will eat it.]

[mistyday]

[She turns around, jogging backwards as she looks at Wrath and Snuggles.]

He's going to it them though!

But it's his job!

I know but if I can save them, I gotta at least try! Even ugly animals that nobody likes deserve some love, don't you think?

I don't think it's about pretty or ugly, it's about them eating our supplies and pooping everywhere.

[Makie crosses paths with her in the hallway on her way to her room, hot tea in hand, and smiles reflexively at the sight of Misty. When she sees what Misty's holding, however, her eyebrows go up.]

Isn't that one of the vermin from the ducts. [No judgment, promise. Just curiosity.]

He's not a vermin he's a...

Well, I don't know exactly what he is, but he ain't hurting anyone.

[He's vermin. But.]

I didn't mean anything by it. They only want to live the same as the rest of us, after all. They can just make life a little difficult on occasion.

[Mostly, she's curious. She hasn't seen any wildlife from this weird place up close.]

I guess so. But I gotta take care of all the animals. Especially the ones no one else likes.

You could feed him yourself. That would stop him digging holes into other food sources. [People keep pets, don't they? She's not used to the idea of looking after an animal. Truth is, Makie's eaten things that look like this. She's not exactly inclined to now, though.]

Or just find a safe place to put him off ship. Like the parks.

Oh hey, that's a good idea!

[She holds the rat up and scrunches her nose up at him. He's cute, in his flea-bitten way.]

I bet you'd like that, wouldn't you? Lots of green space, some nice dirt to burrow in, left over French fries...

And such creatures are very hardy. I imagine he could disappear into the foliage quite safely.

[She doesn't get your attachment, Misty. But if it's important to you, then Makie tries.]

[Misty gets attached to alligators too. It's just her way to love the unloved animals.]

I bet he would. Rats are real smart and I'm sure that goes for space-rats too. Care to come with me?

I wouldn't mind at all. Let me get my shamisen. [She may as well spend some quality time in the park one way or the other.]
