[ It's kind of weird that even in space, people still have a sort of schedule. Sleep during the same few hours, wake up and then stay awake for a while, then go back to bed. Even the fact that all around them, it's dark, doesn't seem to take away from that. In a way, it's almost impressive.

Of course, there are always people who don't...quite adhere to that "normal" sleep schedule. Maybe you can't sleep. Maybe you were taking a shower before bed and then you ran out of hot water and the cold water woke you back up. Maybe your bunkmate snores way too loud.

If you are one particular member of the Pathstone (hint: the one who basically only leaves the sickbay about four times a day), then it's a combination of weird unpleasant dreams and the knowledge that there's a good chance of most of the others on board being asleep right now.

Also, hunger. It's not like she's particularly craving weird solid protein stuff, but when you have to eat, you have to eat.

And so she's sitting in the little dining room, trying to find something among the options here. It is not easy. So, to the network (the ones who aren't sleeping): ]


Has anyone thought of a good way to eat the food here? I keep trying, but it still feels wrong when I eat it.

The flavors don't make sense to me, either. I only know what a few of them are. Are they strange for everyone else?


[ If anyone from the Pathstone is around, she'll be hanging around, poking at some chicken solid and some mixed vegetable solid. And actually not hiding her face. It's...kind of hard to eat with it on. ]

Unlike when they met, she is not actually wearing her skull, so she looks like...well, a pretty normal young girl. ]

I don't know of that, but...it doesn't sound much better than this.

[That, at least, is comforting. The skull thing is pretty damn creepy.]

It isn't trust me. [He squeezes a tube of it into a bowl, which he place on his palm. His palm heats up, as the contents inside begin to steam.]

I find them marginally more palatable if you heat them first.

[Crowley sniffs the contents nonchalantly, before pulling a face. Bleugh.]

Not...precisely. More occult than anything else, I suppose. Demon, and all that.

Oh, that does make sense. It didn't feel like magic, but...it worked the same.

[ Nods like she knows what she's talking about. She does, sort of. ]

I suppose it's as close to magic as we get where I'm from. Unless you count what the witches do, but that's different.

Witches?

[ Oh no, now she's really interested. ]

[Crowley you fool.]

Yeah. I only met a few. They just look at things, mostly.

[ Well that's.......boring. ]

Is that all a witch does?

There's more to it than that, but I never felt the need to ask. They do lots with ley lines...things like that, I dunno.

Your witches are certainly...different than mine.

And what exactly are your witches like?

[amarant]

They use magic, and they're feared. Most of them are dead now, though.

[onlyanapple]

Most of ours are dead, too. Only one decent one left, really.

Were they killed, too?

[onlyanapple]

I think so. I don't keep all that close an eye on them. Far too much humanity to watch over to filter to a scant few individuals.

[ She means the murders, not the other thing. ]

Your eyes must be awfully tired, then.

You get used to it, after a while. Besides, I've had the last five years off.

And apparently more time than that, now.

So it would seem. Perhaps the universe really has decided to let me retire. [And by Universe he of course means 'Adam'.]
