A: Wilderness

[Vima is out to explore, and she's not really interested in the beaten path today. Being interested in the failed terraforming and how that came about, she's liable to be found near the oil towers and other industrial leavings, or the forests.

Although she's got the breather on, she's not feeling super wonderful. The general sickliness of all the life around here is kind of getting at her through the Force, but she's going to find whatever she can find, dang it.

Just because her mother's gone doesn't mean she'll stop acting like a Jedi. It's more important now, even.]

B: War Games

[War isn't a game and she's a little aggravated that it's being treated like it so enthusiastically, I mean, shouldn't they be trying to solve the pollution problem. But since it's all explicitly non-lethal combat, it seems like a good way to get some informal training in.

Vima will be particularly interested in the shuttle racing and paintball--excellent for honing the sense, even if she's not at home with guns or blasters. It's always good to learn new things! Hunting, boxing wrestling, and the other team sports won't be here though.]

C: Wild Card

[Got an idea, let's go! She can also be found on the Heron a lot too, doing more meditatin' than usual. Vima's not as chipper as she usually is.]

[Jaina doesn't mind the breather so much as the wilderness itself. She's gotten used to the jungle of Yavin 4; this feels, to her, like a twisted version of it. This could be an excellent place if it weren't for the botched terraforming.

Mostly? She wants to clear the place and get right into one of those towers.]

This isn't my usual sort of hike. Find anything yet?

[Vima shook her head, resisting the urge to nag at her own mask. She's not that used to wearing something like this.]

Not yet... [She looks up at the nearest form of a tower in the smog.] If that tower has any kind of computer in it, we might be able to dig up some records, though. That could give us a clue or two.

[Jaina takes a moment with eyes closed, trying to see if anything catches her attention -- but if the Force is trying to tell her anything, she's not getting the message. A sigh, and a nod.]

Any security measures shouldn't be too hard to defeat, unless someone's been providing maintenance and updates.

And if they are, that just lets us know we ought to be there. [But she doesn't expect anything either, tbh. It all looks pretty decrepit. She doesn't sense anything through the Force, either.] We'd better be careful, though. With these old buildings, you don't know what part of the floor or ceiling's decided it doesn't want to stay up anymore.

[As she knows herself from Ulic's whole ice palace of atonement thing. Though she suspects Jaina doesn't need the warning... Vima readjusts her mask and heads on up to the tower. It reeks of oil and assorted chemicals, and it doesn't look like there's any electricity active in the place.]

[A shrug, and she trots after Vima to catch up, looking for the entrance, considering if the mask is sufficient for whatever substances are on-site (what if it is absorbed in the skin, what if --).]

I know all about unsound structures. We've been trying to rebuild one of the old Massassi temples on Yavin 4, since Uncle Luke was using it for the Academy.

[That makes Vima stop in her tracks. There's no mistaking that location.]

Wait--Yavin 4? The old Sith Temples?

[Jaina presses ahead, only sparing a glance back at Vima. She heard just enough from Vima's mother to know that the little moon was host to some pretty bad things back then, but Nomi and seemed pretty relieved that life on the moon was able to recover.]

I suppose they were Sith, too. But that's all in the past. The Great Temple's also been a base for a rebel alliance fighting an oppressive empire -- it's a perfectly usable building. It's not like it's a dark side cave.

True--I guess any dark side taint would have a hard time hanging around for as long as it takes to get from my time to your time. [not like an ancient sith is gonna still be lurking around by that time right? right.] I like the idea that it becomes a rebel base. Is that in your time?

[While she's talking, she manages to unearth a side door and pulls away some junk. The hinges are rusted, but so is the body of the door itself. She pries it open, with much groaning and squeaking.]

Geez. I really miss my lightsaber.

[Susan blinks at the multicolored bits of paper that seemed to poof out of no where in the same way she did. So this is a shuffle? She doesn't care much for being a card...

Su places one hand on the surprisingly cool wall and decides to call out when she doesn't see anyone immediately.] Hello?

[Vima immediately senses the presence of a new crewmate. Nothing stands out--nothing like the Force, or the other spiritual powers she's encountered--but it's a life that wasn't there before, and she heads into the corridor as the person... the girl... calls out.]

Hey there. You're a new face.

[Despite being gloomy over her mom's departure, Vima manages a smile for the newcomer.]

[Another blink and then a polite, friendly smile.] So are you. Is this your - ship?

Not in the sense that I'm in charge of it, but it is the one where I live, yeah. I'm one of the pilots.

[She holds out her hand.]

Vima Sunrider. It's nice to meet you.

[gentlearcher]

[Oh good, a reaction she knows what to do with. She gives her own hand in response.] Susan Pevensie. Thank you for the welcome.

No problem. A normal welcome's the least I can do for a newcomer.

[She gives Susan a brief once-over. No telling if she's from a spacefaring society or not just from the clothes, really. But she looks and feels Human.]

Is this your first time in outer space?

[gentlearcher]

It's my first time in any kind of space. Is it not yours?

[Vima chuckles.]

No, where I'm from, people have been traveling across star systems for thousands of years now. The places that don't tend to be primitive... sticks and huts primitive. [There's generally not much in between "dawn of civilization" and "spacefaring," for some reason.] Let me guess: Earth?

[ It's been a while since they talked, but that doesn't mean Winter doesn't keep an eye out for Vima. So one day when she's meditating, he approaches her space, though keeps a few feet between you. He's been trying meditation a bit more lately, and he does think it's helping; but it's too soon to tell. ]

Mind if I join you?

[Vima perceives Winter's approach, but she doesn't actually open her eyes until he speaks up.]

Oh--hey there, captain. Yeah, I don't mind at all.

...It's still strange being called that.

[ He sits nearby though, legs folded and forearms resting on his knees. Winter sighs quietly and tries to focus on.. not focusing. It's a little easier with company, oddly enough. It helps that they're on the Heron, too. ]

Strange being it too, I bet. [It's very gently teasing. Bucky's departure still stings; Vima had been fond of him herself.] But the meditation's a good idea.

[ I don't know the first goddamn thing about being a captain. He's grateful for her poking fun, though he doesn't do much for acknowledging it. It's very obviously a different atmosphere in the ship since Jim left, and filling the void (not that he will ever want to do that!!) is difficult. ]

It's not so much meditation for me as 'sitting here with my eyes closed'.

Well, that's a good start. Do you want some tips? I only know the Jedi way of meditation, but we're pretty good at it.

Well, there's meditation like this, where you sit and let your mind unfocus. But there's 'moving meditation,' where you go into meditation while working on something--working on repairs, or something like that. It's good if sitting still isn't your favorite thing to do.
