this is a game-wide mingle and the timeframe isn't super-important, so throw in with whatever you want! play war games, go shopping for gas masks, get lost in the wilderness, hide up in the Iskaulit and refuse to set foot on the moon, anything goes.

[Finn's eyes widen at being offered a suggestion, and he offers her a slightly hesitant smile when he turns to see her.]

You don't think it would be too much?

[Though why not give it a try? He'd been considering it anyway, and this way he can get someone else's opinion - someone who clearly has a better fashion sense than he does. So he takes the offered bask and straps it on with ease. When he speaks, his voice is slightly muffled.]

Comfortable enough. Does it go with my jacket?

Who would dare say if it were? I would think with such an impressive mask, no one shall think to complain.

[ she smiles and claps her hands, evidently excited with the result of her interference. ]

it is beautiful and very well-suited to the jacket. You shall be the most impressive traveler upon this odd little world.

Guess I could always challenge them to a game if they do. [He holds out his hands in front of him and looks around, making sure he has a fairly wide range of vision. It's no worse than what he's used to.]

Yeah? [The smile can be heard in his voice, if not seen.] But what if I poke someone's eye out?

If they shall even dare entertain the concept.

[ her smile turns a bit impish at his question, something sharp around the edges. ]

Then they better mind their own eyes. Most are covered by the odd masks anyway, the chances are slim.

[ she's mostly jesting. ]

[There are many models that cover the eyes, and besides he doesn't intend to poke his beak at people on purpose. But for now he takes it off again. There will be plenty of opportunity to wear it outside later.]

I think I can afford that much. I, uh, I just got here so I have to be careful.

[ she slips her arm around his and leads him to where others are paying for their own masks, each unique in its own right. the bird has her favor by far but it is a pleasant notion, to see something so ugly as those masks become somewhat prettier. ]

Your name? I am certain we have not been introduced before, I would surely remember.

[Finn grins as she takes his arm and follows her lead. Something about this young woman reminds him of General Organa, even though she's clearly not military.]

[ she smiles and halts their walk to give him a little curtsy ]

I am Margaery of house Tyrell, I am a medic on the Windrose. Has the Caprine been kind to you since your arrival, Finn?

[How does he even respond to a curtsey besides looking flustered? After a moment of panic, he gives a quarter-bow.]

Good to meet you, Margaery. Yeah, it's been pretty good! Reminds me of one of the ships back home, only with more people on it. How's the Windrose?

[ it's alright, finn, she reckons the flustered look is very becoming ]

You have such vessels at your realm? The Windrose is as incredible to me as the rest of the ships I have seen in this realm, the only ships in my own realm travel upon water. None of us has ever dreamed of sailing the stars, not even the most imaginative.

[ and, with a grin, she adds: ]

or the most intoxicated.

[He shakes his head, still a bit amazed that there are people here from so far before space travel that they didn't even know it was a thing.] We've had it for--well, not forever, but they say the Old Republic lasted for a thousand generations, and we've been traveling the stars all that time.

[He laughs.] You will someday. All someone's gotta do is believe in it.

For so many years? there must be endless stories of endless stars in your realm. Do everyone travel between stars? in my realm, most people do not leave the place they were born at. I imagine it must be exciting to be able to see so many places.

[ her smile turns a bit gentle at the last sentence ]

does one need to believe in something to make it true?

Lots of stories, yeah. Lots of them have been lost, but there's always new stories to tell.

[Everybody? Finn shakes his head.] Lots of people never leave one planet, or they never leave their own city. But there's just as many that only feel at home when they're traveling, or do it for business or politics.

I guess not. There's a lot of people that don't believe in the Force, but that doesn't make it not real.

Perhaps that is the sweetest thing about stories, that they never seem to end, especially to those who favor them.

[ much like Margaery herself ]

What is it? That Force that only some believe in?

Long as it's a good story, anyway.

The Force? It's made by every living thing, and it flows through everything and binds the galaxy together. It can influence our actions, but some people can see it and use it to help them. There's some people here, Jedi Knights, that can do that. General Kenobi's training me to learn how to use a Jedi weapon.

Yes, indeed. A boring one does seem endless, does it not?

[ and she has heard many dull ones in king's landing and pretended they are all fascinating, the laws of good-manners ]

Knights? truly? how can they fight using something they cannot see?

Yeah. And you can only watch reruns so many times. [Seriously, when your only approved viewing material is produced by the military, the volume isn't exactly impressive. His whole squadron could recite Clone Brothers and The Emperor's Promise line for line.]

Well, they can feel it. I'm not really sure how, but they train for a really long time and even a Jedi Master still has more to learn. In the Old Republic, they were peacekeepers and mediators, and they tried not to fight. In my time there's a lot of war, though.

It must be quite a sight. I imagine those who cannot feel it do not always understand it. People do tend to think less of what they cannot understand.

[ she nods her head, her smile turning a little smaller ]

it is the same for my realm; it seems as if war is the share of everyone, no matter how wonderful their realm might be.

Yeah, or they make excuses for it so they don't have to try to understand. But they're not seeing the whole picture that way.

[He nods, understanding that perfectly.]

Maz--this lady I met back home--she said that it's always the same fight. The Light against the Dark. I used to think I could get away from it, but now I know that if we don't do anything, the Dark Side will win.

You are very brave.

[ she thinks about it and hums ]

It is harder to tell between them in my realm, darkness and light. Sometimes one will look like the other.

[ a smile, though ]

However, if we have brave men like you, I am certain it shall be alright and the good shall win. It is the same for your realm.

[Finn looks down, but it's with a smile.] People keep saying that.

We do have some good people. I bet you do, too. Even if they don't know it themselves yet.

If they do, then it must see what I am seeing. Such times are not easy, it is sweet to see that there are good people in every realm.

[ she smiles a little ]

would that we shall only have those here, it could be dire to have anyone with ill-intentions on such small ships.

[Margaery, you're embarrassing him. He's not a good person--but he's not going to argue it, either.]

Yeah, it would be. But if we stay vigilant, we can take care of any problems when they come up, right?
