this is a game-wide mingle and the timeframe isn't super-important, so throw in with whatever you want! play war games, go shopping for gas masks, get lost in the wilderness, hide up in the Iskaulit and refuse to set foot on the moon, anything goes.

[Perhaps Theon notices a familiar face in the spectators, clapping with slow, deliberate sarcasm.]

Yes, do tell them how you bring war upon them. Give them those fierce eyebrows.

[ There is little that will currently set Theon off more than Loki's smug face. He's already had a fool made out of himself once, but who cares about that? That was then, this is now. Theon is a stubborn young man, and what's stopping him from wringing his new favorite person's totally unprotected neck? Absolutely nothing. ]

Why don't I deliver it upon you instead?

[ He tosses the useless bat aside and lunges forward, only to be reeled back in an instant by the crowd as he swears and spits loudly, hurling every half formed insult he can think of in Loki's direction.

Good game, Theon. No points. ]

Let him come, let him come. [Loki plays to the crowd, smiling, bowing, giving them little waves.]

He's very asymmetrical, don't you think? Shall I help him with that?

[ He is a bit asymmetrical, unfortunately. While waiting for Loki's masterpiece to grow back in, he's gotten into the habit of either hiding his mismatched eyebrows with his hair, hiding himself all together, and sometimes even drawing the missing eyebrow in on his own. He's gotten rather good at it, but it doesn't make him feel any less humiliated. He can't bring himself to hate his father or his sister for how they humiliated him, but he can hate Loki.

At Loki's word, the crowd allows Theon to pull free, though he's so surprised that he doesn't seem to know exactly what to do next. So he laughs instead. ]

Come near me and I'll thin your neck out for you. I think it will make you look significantly more godly.

[ He tilts his head, pretending to actually consider Loki. He would smirk if anyone could see it through the mask. ]

It would be an improvement.

[Loki laughs.]

Always how it is with you. Come near me, and... or I will... but never do. All bark and no bite, puppy.

[Loki spreads his hands.]

Here my neck is, defenseless and waiting your hands.

[Go ahead, Theon. Try to fight with the god of fighting dirty.]

[ Theon hates him. He hates everything about him, right down his obnoxious laugh and his stupid smug smile. Basically, now Theon knows what it's like to be around himself.

He takes a moment to weigh his options. End this gracefully and walk away, be marked as craven and . Follow through on his threat, likely be humiliated again. It's better to be hated and feared than to be made a fool of, but is it better to be a craven than a fool? It's a difficult choice, and Theon doesn't do well with difficult choices, particularly when he's angry. ]

Give them the show they want, then.

[ So, of course, he throws what little caution he has to the wind and launches forward, fully meaning to wrap his hands around Loki's throat before he can change his own mind.

This would be so much easier if he had his bow. Surely even a god isn't immune to an arrow to the heart. ]

[Yeah, that's an illusion again. You should know that by now, Theon. And Loki's invisibly waiting to jump at him from the side, aiming to wrestle him to the ground.]

[ Theon swears loudly as he only stumbles, hating himself for not taking Loki's tricks into consideration. Somewhere in his thick skull, he knows he can't win, but he's too stubborn not to try.

He reacts about as quickly as anyone can when the real Loki retaliates, but it isn't quick enough. He's still wrestled easily to the ground, spitting and swearing, doing his best to fend Loki off.

It's an adorable attempt, really. ]

[Like a kitten flailing at play. Loki is solid, and quite heavy for all his apparent thinness, and he sits on Theon much the way Thor used to sit on him.

And then casts an illusion on himself so that he wears Theon's face, but an idealized, handsome version, from which he smirks at the man.

Then raises his hand to deliver a stinging slap.]

[ He's too shocked to react quickly enough to prevent the slap. He hisses and winces in pain, but he's shocked into silence.

For all his arrogance, there's a lot of self-loathing brewing beneath Theon's surface. His smiles and laughter are nothing more than tiny ways of hiding it. If he were really as arrogant as the face he puts on, he might find his tongue more easily. Instead, he glares up at the idealized version of himself, hating every feature, and delivers a nicely aimed slap of his own.

Stop hitting yourself. ]

[He grins with Theon's face. A human can't deliver that much of a blow to an Asgardian.

Have another slap, Theon. This is the real right, isn't it?]

[ The false Theon's grin serves to enrage the real Theon more than the slap does, his teeth clenching together tightly as he delivers another blow of his own.

He knows the damage he's doing is minimal, even laughable, but it's all he can bring himself to do. Finally, he finds his tongue, hissing out his words with more loathing than ever. ]

I hope you burn.

[ And he doesn't even know if he's talking about Loki or himself. That's how deep this issue runs. ]

[His voice is a perfect mimic of Theon's.] Come now. Fire is too clean a fate for betrayers.

[And he'll try to hold Theon's hands off for a minute so he can kiss the man on the forehead.]

[ He's right, Theon thinks. But it's just as slow and painful as I deserve. Angry and cringing at the accurate mimic of his own voice, he turns his head away just a fraction too late. Here we have the perfect definition of 'too close for comfort', and Theon already feels humiliated.

But he isn't done. Although he's struggling to free himself now, he still can't shut up. ]

Who have I betrayed? Tell me if you believe you know so much.

[ If there was any confusion as to who his words were originally aimed at, he clears up any doubt rather quickly. ]

You know nothing. All you have are guesses and tricks.

[ Wallow in that self-loathing, Theon. Wallow in it. ]

[Who indeed? This is an exercise in cold reading, ultimately, but Loki can guess. Or perhaps more accurately, Loki can project his own hatred on Theon just as much as Theon projects onto him.]

Your brother and your self, of course. All the best traitors do.

[He can still pretend it is Thor who betrayed him, so long as he does not think on it too hard.]
