Plato? Did some of his philosophies involve the sun? [She knows a lot of things and retains information well, but there's only so much any one person can study especially if that one person never got to finish school and her interests lay toward technology, science, and language more so than other humanities.

But this exchange already feels familiar. It'll feel a lot more familiar if he gives her an almost encyclopedic-sounding answer.]

Yeah, he had this one dialogue - where he compared goodness to the sun - it was something like its light allows us to see just like goodness opens our mind.

[ and it just really feels appropriate for a project meant to restore supergirl's powers.

I know it's her call, but for what it's worth I'm pretty open with what I can do and no one here has tried to study me or chase me with torches and pitchforks. I kind of wish they would though. Pitchforks might be a good source of metal.

[Speaking of metal, she has a new fashion accessory—a long brass cuff on her write wrist and forearm. It's actually a weapon, but it looks innocent enough at the moment with the claws retracted.]

That's good to know -- though I definitely vote for getting metal any other way that isn't people using it to hunt down my best friend. [ he pauses ] Oh, yeah! How's it going with those claws?

Good. I haven't accidentally stabbed anyone trying to shake my hand, so that's a plus. [She flicks her wrist and they three sharp claws pop out. It may turn some heads around them.]

[ it makes him jump back in surprise - at least he didn't yelp this time! ]

[ what is it with the women in his life and giving him heart attacks? he holds a finger up for a moment, as his face appears to be an odd mixture of fear and excitement. when excitement seems to win out - he points said finger at the weapon ]

[ kara's been worried that he would be ganging up on her with jim, but he's starting to suspect he's the one who should be worrying - about her and kitty. ]

[She retracts the blades and looks at him.] Hey. [Waiting for him to meet her eyes.] I wouldn't hurt you. [Even if she jokes about it. She wants him to know. Whether he believes or not is up to him.]

I know -- but you might give me a heart attack -

[ which is a form of unintentional hurt. phasing is super cool, but the idea of a weapon going through him, especially without preparation -- is kind of deeply disturbing. don't ask him why something being phased through him is different from him phasing through something else, it just is.

he smiles though, not wanting to make her feel bad. ]

I know. I need to work on that. [She has really. A year ago that is absolutely how she might have shown them off to someone. Now she just jokes about it. Improvement, right? Yeah, she has a little further to go.

She steps closer and offers her arm to him, turning it to the side so the claws wouldn't go toward him even if they were out]
