It's got a long, thin purple petal, and the centre is sort of more to the bottom? That part is green and black, sort of like a sunflower with half of the seeds ripped away from it.

I haven't seen any... granted, I haven't been looking at the flowers much. [It's certainly no place to stop and smell the roses.]

Did a local tell you they grew out here? [He starts moving away as he talks, expecting she'll follow if she wants to continue the conversation. The mineshaft holds no more interest for him, equipped as he is.]

Not necessarily. I was told that there were poisons around, some that people sold, so I thought... Maybe I could find some. It is technically a poison.

[ She's quick to push herself up, to follow; his longer strides don't bother her, as if she's used to running a mile a minute to keep up. ]

[It's already clear enough from her tone, but she's said 'poison' enough times now that it doesn't hurt to clarify. Slightly amusing, too. He steps around some fallen branches, changing his path to angle towards the rising ground ahead.]

I don't know if any would be able to survive. They might have adapted, I suppose, with some kind of evolution, but... It seems so deadly out here. Maybe it's a good idea not to go and find them.

Oh, no, I've seen rabbit-like creatures out here. There are some. They haven't tried to attack me at least. [Not like the ones in Kyriakos had done, on occasion. Dreadful things.] I haven't seen much else.

Well, that is why I'm out here instead of in the city. [He had enough of war games on day one.] If it happens, though, it happens.

I'm doing my best. It is quite limiting, though, you're right. [ It's enough to give her a bit of a warning, at least - and it's not all because of the lioness. Having a minor werewolf curse does that to you too.

Still, she huffs in agreement. ] That's a complete load of nonsense, now, isn't it? As if we want to come to a planet just to fight. I'm sure half of us have had enough of that in our own worlds.

Having enough of it rarely means you're done, though. [He never will be. Their path continues to rise, the trees and twisted shrubs around them starting to thin.]

No, I suppose you're right. I had enough of the war when I was sixteen but it didn't end for years. [ And it still hurts, somewhere deep inside of her, and all she can do is shove herself forward and climb up, putting her hand against the trees. ]

From what I've heard there's not been a lot of fighting, but it's better to be prepared.

[The mention of her age doesn't phase him much. He had brought young people near her age into war before. Most of them were dead, now. Ghosts of failure. He does glance over at her next comment.]

Just because there hasn't been, doesn't mean there won't. Even if it doesn't come from the outside, there could be divisive elements among us. [It's a strong statement, for all that he doesn't think about that possibility much. The threat is more likely to come from one of these planets, or the Atroma.]

No, you're right. I wish Atroma hadn't taken my swords - I feel a little naked without them. [ Both of them. The rapier and the blade Leo had made her, both of them important to her, and her daggers... She had learned to use them, not entirely through choice, and now she felt a little barren. ]

I'm sure I could buy something, somewhere, though.

I wouldn't buy anything here, at least. It would probably be tainted.

[His sword, well... it was likely still above the mantelpiece in his office, where he'd left it. He wasn't in the habit of carrying weapons, as he didn't need them to be one. Times like this, though, he misses his hunting knife. The next available knife seller, he'd replace it.]

So that magic you did the other day-- you can't make something like a knife that way?

Oh, definitely not here. I'm not risking my life and my crewmates lives just for a sword.

[ She just misses her own things. The rapier was a symbol of her failure and her strength after that, a gift from a woman that had taught her so much. The sword was a gift from Leo, handcrafted, and she just... Misses them. ]

I could, I suppose, but I'd need something to make it out of. I can't transform anything into anything, I need... Parts, sort of. Transfiguration has to be equal either side.

[He considers that, turning it over in his mind.] Since swords are quite dense, you would likely need a lot of material, then.

[The hill they're climbing is reaching its peak. Erik stops when they finally make it to the top, casting his gaze out over the hazy woods, and distant shapes of oil rigs. It's not a pretty view, even if he wasn't expecting to find one. His eyes narrow slightly, taking it in.]

Exactly. I'd need the steel, any iron, I suppose, and then it would take time to sit and use my magic. I'm not sure if it's something I can even do alone - I've never made a sword before.

[ Matchsticks into pins? Sure. Hedgehogs to pincushions? Fine. Swords? A little more complex.

She steps up and over the edge of the hill, frowning at what she sees. Arms crossed, she huffs a noise. ]

I haven't made a sword, but I've used forges to make other things. [He tips his head towards her slightly, with a sardonic twist to his tone.] I was always able to speed that process along through my power.

I can't wait until we get to the next station.

[ But, of course, she's hooked straight into his words. ]

Of course! That's amazing - it must feel incredible as well. I can't even imagine how much control that sort of work must take. Wow.

It's certainly more fine-tuned than just moving things around. [At the time he used a forge, it was also safer for him, his control over his power too skittery to manage much.] It's also very hot work, using a forge.

Oh, it must be, but I suppose it suited you. [ Wait. ] Working with metal, I mean.

Indeed it did, and does. A sword would be an interesting project. [Not that he doesn't already have a weapon project underway.]

At the moment it's a thought, nothing else. I've owned a sword; I know what they're like. [Even if he's never actually fought with it. One day, he'll need to ask Adelina about swordplay lessons.] Making something like that is a little more complicated than fusing metal together.

I think I miss my rapier most. It came with this. [ Her finger draws along her scar, hesitating for a moment before she breathes out. ] Maybe the best thing to do for now is get my hands on a wooden sword and keep up practice with that. I don't think Atroma can take that away from me.
