[The broadcast doesn't switch on while Nami is still sleeping, but it does decide to catch the moment when she practically launches off the bed with a banshee screech and then tumbles to the floor blankets and all, a tangle of material and bare limbs flailing in a pathetic heap.]

Luffy, you ass-- I'm the only one who can--

[The only one who can inhale a blanket corner, apparently. 8| Please hold, spluttering. She eventually flips the blanket back to show a mess of orange hair, smoothing it dazedly behind one ear-- and then freezing as she swipes at thin air beneath that.]

Wha hap'-- where's my--

[....]

.....huh?

[Memory might be taking a bit.]

[Some hours later she'll be back and fully coherent and annoyed.]

I go to sleep for two weeks and we're still in this crappy place? Tell me there's a bright side somewhere. And I guess I owe a bunch of shifts at the bar or something.

Aha. Tell me I still have a job.

[Dryly, but softly. She's got eyes, Sam. Cas's reaction is just... more adaptive than she would have thought.]

What they've been through doesn't just vanish because they're here now, I know. It'll give them some breathing space, but unless we somehow change things they'll have to go back eventually and they know it.

I guess I'm just hoping they have some good moments while they're here.

[He sighs in mild frustration.]

That's not just it. I just mean... don't give him too much breathing space. He went on a bender so bad, he had to be dragged back home. I had to make sure he didn't drown in his own throw-up. So... [He leans back, taking a long, horrible drink of liquor. Rubs a hand over his face.] Hopefully now that Dean's here, it'll be easier for him.

Regardless, it's not a normal week unless I'm worried about somebody.

He won't talk to me. I've tried. And I don't much blame him. [His bender didn't happen at one of the Iskaulit bars; he went to the waystation. She knows he's having trouble, but...]

He was doing better, before you woke up. [Which makes it sound she thinks it's it's his fault, and Nami winces.] Finding out he screwed up in your universe probably wasn't any better for his state of mind than it was for yours in the same situation.

[Ah. Look at the raw guilt that flashes in his expression; her words hit him like a shot, through-and-through. He looks down at his drink sharply.]

... Yeah.

I know. I really freaked him out. And then some.

Couldn't be helped. [She can't say it's not your fault. On one minor level Sam's responsible for imparting that news in that brutal kind of way, and she bets Sam would kind of just. Cling to that to say he's guilty for all of it. So she tries the other tack instead.]

You were hurting and totally disoriented, and he doesn't blame you for that. Neither would anybody with any common sense. But you know yourself how hard it is to hear you failed in a different set of circumstances.

Don't beat yourself up over that. You're doing everything you can to help, right?

[He nods slowly.]

I wouldn't leave him to deal with it himself. Never.

[He takes a deep breath through his nose.]

Not when he was around, watching Lucifer destroy everything, um... [he clears his throat] wearing my face. I keep remembering how I made the, uh, other Sam complete the Trials before, how that would have benefited that world at the very least.

... But then when I think of going to Cas and Dean's world to try and help the Sam possessed by Lucifer... I think about how you might try to kick my ass for the thought.

[He glances up at her from over his glass, as if trying to read what she thinks of the idea.

Can't fault him for testing the waters, right?]

[The comment gets a reflexive grin from Nami. Apparently navigator violence is a factoring issue in Sam's life lately. But rather than agree, her eyes are thoughtful. And a little sad. Honestly? She was wondering the same thing herself not that long ago. But.]

It's a nice thought. And it's you. You want to fix everything, whether you think it's your fault or not. [LBR, you take the blame for like 95% of everything ever.]

But your own world is in enough trouble. You'd have to weigh up which one needs your help more, because you might die in either choice you make.

And-- you should get as much information as possible. If the world where you're possessed by Lucifer is beyond the point of no return-- if it's destroyed already-- there's not much even you could do. But maybe you could help them in other ways.

Sending them anywhere other then their world, anyway.

But - I've hit nothing but dead ends with information on rituals or magic here, so far...

That's along the lines of what I was thinking, too.

[She tucks her hair behind her ears.] It might be we have to play the long game here and break the hold of the Atroma before we can mess with things like that. If we do... I still have my comm from Adstringendum. If it goes back to working fully, we should be able to use it to at least get to Adstring, right?

[Adstring is a hell of a lot better place to dump a traumatised Dean and Cas. And that's the most basic option.]

[He nods.]

I think they'd like Adstringendum, yeah.

... Is the device still functional? I mean, does it still turn on?

It turns on, but all I get is static. I gave it to Kirito to see if he could get it to access our old conversations, at the very least.

Kirito... I think I remember - yeah, he's the kid who is pretty familiar with tech, right? I talked to him at some of those campfires on the ice planet. Did he say if there was any hope?

He didn't not say. [She grins.] I don't know if there is, but he was pretty enthusiastic about the idea of trying, at least.

[She drains her drink.]

So...I guess you wanna hear about Sanji-kun's marriage. [On a-- well, it's not light news, but it's lighter in comparison?]

Is his marriage as questionable as our own experiences, then?

Yeah. [She grins a little wryly, not sure whether she finds it funny or not. In a dark kind of way.] We should start our own club at this rate.

Sanji-kun has family he didn't tell us about. [It's not judgmental; his business. Just a fact.] They're nobles, who in our world tend to be vile people more often than not. When, uh... when the government released new Wanted posters for us, they recognised Sanji and started tracking him down.

They want him to marry into another huge crew. One of the Warlords. Political stuff.

Jesus.

Here I thought he just came into existence as a flirty, short-tempered chef inexplicably.

[He wrinkles his brow.]

... What's Sanji's thoughts on this mess?

He wants nothing to do with his family. [That much was obvious. Excuse her, Sam, she's gonna pour herself another drink from this bottle.]

They didn't give him any choice. Sanji-kun is stubborn, but there are definitely certain ways you can push him into things.

[Hah. Hahaha.]

So you're saying he was pretty much kidnapped for marriage.

Inasmuch as he let himself be kidnapped, yes. It was the safest way out of the situation for us and he took it.

[She sighs.] I don't doubt for a second Sanji knows exactly what he's doing and he has his own plans, but his thoughts on how to deal with this aren't exactly gonna measure up with Luffy's thoughts on it. [Or hers. Or anyone that isn't Sanji, tbh.] So we split the crew. Kind of a lot going on right now. Four of us are headed after Sanji-kun, and the rest will meet us later.

[After a moment, she smiles crookedly.] Maybe we really should start a club. Forced marriages seem to be catching.

God, don't say that; the next planet will be nothing but shotgun weddings.

[He rubs a hand over his face.]

On the bright side, he's got you guys as a crew. You'll get him back.

No doubt there. Probably cause the whole World Government to shriek in outrage over it as well, if I know Luffy. He doesn't do anything by halves.

... Yeah. Yikes. You guys have been okay though, right?

That sounds like a lot to deal with.
