[ In her broadcast, Kara is in her PJs, hair down and glasses off. She looks like she just woke up not too long ago and the overall vibe is very "confessional vlog". She doesn't seem distressed, just a little confused, and tired—though her eternal optimism is always there somewhere. ]

Hey, so, question: On a scale from "wow that's super weird we've never heard of something like that" to "it must be a Wednesday on the Fleet", how common is it to just like, get a bunch of "new" information from home? Which, now that I think about it, is kind of a dumb thing to ask because we have implants that give us job skills training. But I'm just wondering. Uh, in the abstract? Something like that.

Anyway, I'm going to go get some coffee and food because I'm starving. Who knew that sleeping was such hard work?

[ he's looking as serious as he ever has. ok so her being kara's nemesis thing probably rules her out as the great love of his life - but this is still too close to what kitty was afraid of for comfort, and it makes him feel like a horrible monster. how could he do that to her? ]

Ms. Grant hired her to punish me for not being at work because... of the Black Mercy and other things. Her name is Siobhan Smythe and she's awful, Winn. I don't even know what you were thinking.

I can take a wild guess -

[ she wanted him, it's humiliating to admit that it would be that easy but after the devastating blow that was losing the last bit of hope of ever having kara... ]

So, what, she was trying to - throw you off your game? [ take her job, take her best friend, that sort of thing? god, is he so pathetic of a person that he'd let himself be a pawn to hurt his best friend for companionship?

he really doesn't want to think that he is, but that's what it's sounding like. ]

Basically, yeah. Though I think whatever you two had going on was just extra. Mostly she was trying to ingratiate herself to Cat, but Ms. Grant can see right through people like that. She fired her for poaching a story to the Planet.

But it turns out Siobhan is a literal banshee.

[ s l o w l y raising his head, tilting it, and frowning. ]

She screamed at me and the force and frequency threw me out the window at CatCo.

[ pressing the bridge of his nose. sometimes, even he has to wonder about himself. ]

[ no ok, not the problem right now. though he really has to start wondering if he just has a thing for non-humans - ]

Was it at least short? [ there's no doubt in his mind that trying to kill kara would have ended the relationship he is not that pathetic - right? right?? ]

Sorry - [ look it's a valid concern! but not his main one at the moment. he managed to betray the two people who mean the most to him with one stupid meaningless...what?

he sighs. ]

I'm really sorry, Kara. [ if only he could just fix things with kitty with an 'I'm really sorry'. how will he tell her about this? ]

I'm not really that upset, except she's awful, but that's not really—I mean, you're capable of making your own choices, and I like that you want to date people. I just like Kitty a million times better.

Maybe don't get too attached -

[ he mumbles, aimed at himself as much as at kara - if she'll want to dump him for this, after what she's been through with her last boyfriend...he won't be able to argue. he won't feel right about arguing. his heart already feels like it's starting to break, and all over a stupid mistake stupid future him stupidly makes.

[ he runs a hand through his hair, clearly uncomfortable. he shouldn't say anything, this is kitty's story - but if she dumps him, kara's going to want to know why.

but that's a problem for future dumped winn. he really doesn't want to be that guy. ]

[ does it make him a bad person to want them to, when they got this glimpse of how he could potentially hurt her? heck, this alone is cheating. he's already hurt her. goddamn. ]

So, [ clearing his throat ] what about you? Any less terrible dating choices? [ are you and james done dancing around each other? because it really is exhausting to watch and no one ever even supplies popcorn. ]

Well, the government found out about Director Henshaw being a Martian, so he and Alex are on the run. Oh, and Alex killed Astra, not Hank. There's a substance that Max Lord made that can make me into basically the worst person on the planet, Non is still trying to kill everyone on Earth, and Alex's dad might be alive in a black ops research location.

[ she's feeling a little petty that he won't tell her what's going on with him and kitty t b h ]

[ a long pause. ]

And what's most on your mind is I make bad life choices?

[ because it may be ruining his life, but compared to all of that it sounds like it should barely be a flicker on kara's radar - oh wait no not the right response. ]

That's -- [ no, he has nothing. he just pulls her into a hug. he can't imagine how she's feeling - alex means the world to her. how do you begin to process something like that. ]

Could you -- talk to her?

[ he asks softly.

if it were his secret to tell...he's not even sure what's going on, either. after he speaks to kitty, though, she may hear more about it than she'd like. in the why would you tell her that kind of conversation. ]

[ she allows the hug. she sounds more sad than vindictive ]

What's most on my mind is I didn't know what to tell you. There's just so much.

Alex and I worked... something out. And then I said some horrible things to her when I was affected by the red kryptonite. And because she's basically the best person ever she forgave me but... I'm so worried, Winn.

Kara -- [ he pulls back to catch her eyes ] Alex loves you - as much as any human being can love anyone else in the world. And you love her. You're the two biggest badasses the world has ever known, and you have each other's backs. No one could ever take you on. Not the government, not Non, and definitely not Maxwell Lord made poison.

But what if something happens to her and I can't be there in time?

You said she's with director Henshaw, right? [ who's a...martian. of course he is. why wouldn't he be? but he's also terrifying. ] She's not alone, and she's smart - she'll figure out a way to contact you if she needs help. If there's anyone I believe in to make it besides you - it's Alex. [ he squeezes her hand ] She'll be ok. It's one of the few things I'm completely sure of.

Thanks, Winn. I know you're right. I just really miss her.

[ for the first time, being a social disaster is paying off for him. not as many people to miss, and it's not that bad. so long as he has kara -- he doesn't really have anything that important to go back to. ]

I'll get you home, I promise.

[ if it's the last thing he does. her and kitty, even if kitty takes the first flight out to chicago and never sees him again - he has to at least know she's safe. ]
