You can't be a demon and not be evil first, that's sorta what they are!

[The confusion on his face is genuine (when is it not?), and Talon squints a little.]

People turn into demons, too. I mean I've seen it happen, like. You're fine one minute and then some asshole mage comes along and poofs you into a big ol' Hellhound or something! [He is weirdly adamant on this point. D&D worlds are Weird.] Or like that guy, he actually turned into something else 'cause he wanted more power.

Besides. Nobody needs to be killed, unless they're actively and willingly hurting innocent people! If that's what's going on, it doesn't matter that I'm not Fenris, I'd do the same thing.

So are you going around hurting innocent people for no good reason? [He would look more intimidating if he wasn't just crossing his arms and staring like some overgrown puppy but you know. Details.]

[Cole doesn't beat around the bush. Not about this.]

Demons just are. Rage. Envy. Pride. Despair. Nightmare. Fear. Just are. They act by their nature, just like spirits. Compassion. Wisdom. Faith. Justice. And I'd do the same. I'd act as Despair, from Despair. And people would kill themselves. I'd drive them to it. Because that's what Despair is.

[He puts a hand on his chin, puffing out his cheeks a little.]

But if you were some kinda Despair you wouldn't be wanting someone to kill you to stop you from being you. So you're not Despair yet, right? And until you are, you're... something else I guess.

Why d'you think you're gonna turn into Despair, or whatever?

[To be honest, he doesn't get it at all. It's pretty far out there, and he didn't even understand how demons in his world worked to begin with - not more than cursorily.]

But if it's like breathing, then there's nothing you could do. You'd turn into one even though you didn't want to.

I don't believe anybody's like that. Not when I know a succubus who's working for a God that isn't evil. That's not s'posed to be possible either, you know?

If you're worried about turning into something else, you just have to get stronger than that impulse.
