[Sometimes it's like you just need to pet him and tell him he's a good Sascha. She does neither of these things, but she does smile slightly and nod.] Okay, so he has long-term memory loss, but I think he might have some problems with short-term memory too. Remembering things like where to go for blood pills or to knock... [Which sounds like she's just complaining, and she is, but she also thinks he may be having a real struggle with it.]

[She crosses over to the exam table and pats it.]

Sascha can you take a seat for me here?

Sure thing~ [ Man, physicals are easy so far. He was expecting leeches and blood-letting or something, maybe some needles. Sitting on tables he can do. He'll walk right on past Kitty, and take a seat. ]

[Kitty sinks back toward the wall, out of the way, ready to help if needed, but she doesn't expect the need.]

Have you ever examined a vampire before, doctor?

[There will be no blood-letting, thank you very much. Beverly would be horrified at the thought.

She shakes her head in response to Kitty's question.]

I have not. But I serve as a physician for a wide variety of species on the Enterprise.

[She turns her attention to Sascha.]

Before we start, do you have any questions for me? Anything you're worried about?

[pneumo]

Um....I don't think so. I've never had a check-up before! So I really dunno what we're gonna do, hehe. [ Might as well be honest about that right? ]

Yeah, I figured that experience would help if nothing else. Not to mention every vampire I've known has been different from one another anyway.

[She looks at Sascha.] Have you ever been to a doctor for anything?

jumps in here to answer that--

Nope. [ He shrugs his shoulders. ] Vampires heal after enough time, so... [ It's not like they need it on a good day. ]

[dancingmd]

Well, it won't take too long. I'm just going to scan you with my tricorder, and we'll see from there where we need to go.

[pneumo]

Do I have to lift my arms or anything for that? [ He...he literally has no idea what goes on during a physical, or a scan. The closest he gets is you get candy after if you don't cry. ]

[dancingmd]

No, you don't have to do anything! Just have to sit and wait!

[pneumo]

Okay~~~ [ How long will he actually sit still for? The world will never know. ]

You're doing great, Sascha. [Kitty is actually surprised just how hands off this process is herself.]

[Fortunately, it literally takes about thirty seconds for the scan to finish, once she flips open her tricorder and runs it over Sascha. She's quiet as she studies the readings. It's hard to say what's normal for his species, but nothing strikes her as particularly worrisome. Though his heart rate is slower than a human's, it's steady, and his lower body temperature isn't accompanied by any other signs of fever or illness, so he's probably healthy in that regard. The most noticeable thing are his fangs trying to come in - poor thing, his gums must hurt! - and how dilated his eyes are.]

I see no signs of brain damage or trauma but - you must be getting a lot of headaches?

[pneumo]

I...um. Yeah--how'd you know?? [ Because as far as he knows, baring the incident with Nami and Simon he's been able to keep up a fairly good cover on that. Whenever his migraines are too intense to bear he simply locks himself someplace quiet and dark until his nerves calm down. ]

Did the thingy tell you??

Well, no, it didn't tell me directly, but with your pupils so dilated, there's bound to be a lot of light getting in, more than there should be, and that often causes headaches or worse, migraines.

[pneumo]

Oh...haha. Um. Yeah, it was really bad before Bigby helped me get these sunglasses. [ UV shades, technically speaking. ] Otherwise I can't see when there's light around.

[Well, she supposes that makes sense that a vampire would be nocturnal.]

Good, I'm glad that's helping! But... If you are interested, I do know of a medication that would make your pupils contract, at least for a few hours, which might especially help on a planet where we have less control over the lighting.

[pneumo]

So....my eyes would get smaller?? [ Less scientifically speaking. Life is hard when you lack a formal education and have had to learn most of your experiences via watching others. ]

[Listening quietly for the moment, glad that there might be something to help him, but also relatively sure he'd forget to take any drops like he forgot his air mask on the moon. She's a little surprised the brain is checking out so cleanly though.]

Only your pupils would get smaller. That's the black part in the center of your eye - it's actually an opening that controls how much light gets in.

And if it shrinks, it won't hurt to look at light so much...?

Exactly! But you don't have to do it if you don't want to, it's only a suggestion. Whatever makes you more comfortable.
