He splits into a smile when he sees who it is though, motioning for Leto to come further into his room, small though it might be. He had managed to make it homey enough, with room for a tiny table for himself to work on, but his motion made it clear Leto could sit on the bed if he so wished. ]}

Maybe not the universe just quite yet. Baby steps.

What brings you here?

No reason. I had a few errands to run here and there, so I thought I'd stop by.

Well, I'm glad you did. I always enjoy time with you, Leto. Besides, I could use a break from this. I'm a little stumped, so time away from it might help.

It's... it's going to sound silly, but I was try to make a projector of sorts. It won't actually be that useful, but it keeps me busy.

[ He tilts his head. ] Surely a projector would come in handy.

I wanted to program star-scapes. Like the one I would see from Earth. Just... something from home, you know?

The urge to break loose and traverse the galaxy. It's a little hard to do when the journeys are mandated by the Atroma and they are the ones who decide when we leave and where we go.

Books lose me. It's hard to be engaged in material that resides in your mind, but poetry . . . poetry is limitless.

_{[ He chuckled, finding it hard to argue with that assessment of himself. It was true, after all. He remembered an encounter with another captain, the words he had said - that sooner or later, Kirk would find himself more at home on his ship, in the stars, then he ever would on Earth. ]}

That's a different kind of faking. Faking confidence or bluffing isn't the same as faking your abilities or skills.

There are many kinds of positions to be. I knew a man - a good friend, desperate to prove he was a hero. A good man. And he would keep pedestals in his heart for all those other heroes he saw. One of them was me.

I liked many things about him. But never that part.

I don't know. I don't mind the idea of being someone people can look up to. As a captain, I have to be. But... you're right. I'm not sure I would want to be a hero on a pedestal. I'm just me, trying to do what I feel is right.
