As far as it can be ascertained, Captain Yosuke has left the fleet. Fate -- or the Atroma -- would have his rank fall to me. I have every intention to serve the Starstruck and its crew with good sense and heartfelt duty. Having arrived just under a year ago, I'm not certain I could have said the same thing back then but...
Good God, I fear I've grown fond of you lot. [ she speaks tenderly for a moment before business seeps back into her words. ] If you've any concerns, come knock on my door. I'd rather not get caught up in some fatuous speech. Brevity, the bard said, is the soul of wit.
[ and the feed goes silent. but true to her word, peggy will leave her bedroom door open for the remainder of the day. she sits at her desk with minor busy-work scattered across a few pages -- something to keep her occupied but not too occupied, in case someone takes umbrage with her 'promotion', so to speak. ]
action
Captain. Congrats on the promotion.

[ and for moments just like this one, peg has tracked down simple chair -- nothing extravagant -- down in the poisoned moon's markets. the small quarters barely accommodates it, so she tucks it away behind her locker when it's not being used. just now, she pulls it free and places it so it might face her own chair. ]

... Oh. Uh. I'm not... in trouble, am I?

peggy takes her own seat. ] Quite the opposite. You conduct yourself most admirably.

Anyway. He breaks his troubling silence today. Thankfully.]
...
Um. Captain.
[He looks like a vampire in old lore, needing permission to wander into her room.]

with a dull scrape of her chair against the floor, she leaves her desk. she stands. and she gestures him inside with a brisk flick of her hand. ]
Yes?
action
At any rate, he rubs the back of his neck.]
... Someone from my world arrived here.
[Might as well jump right to it.]
action
in any case, she doesn't bother inviting him to sit. he'll sit if he wants do, and she rather doubts he wants to. ]
Someone good, or someone bad?
[ a simple question for a distinction that is anything but. ]

So which bard said that about brevity? There's lots of bards in my world, but I dunno if we'd call any of them the Bard.
[ Hey, that's one way to start a conversation. ]
And congratulations, by the way.
action;
[ but peggy smiles -- good-natured, despite it all. she does the polite thing and stands from her chair so she can invite him properly into the room. ] Please, come in. If only so I can give you a small lesson in Earth literature.
action;
At least you're taking it seriously. More than some people probably would.
[ But he's more than willing to step inside for a lesson. ]
So tell me about this Bard of yours.

Congratulations, Captain. I guess I'll be making you the tea now.
How's it feel?

[ CASE IN POINT: ] A cuppa wouldn't go amiss, that's for certain.
no subject
Tea it is. I'm glad to have something to do. You've given my life purpose again, Cap.
no subject
Just -- for God's sake -- don't let me get too comfortable. Even the brassiest top brass ought to make their own damned tea now and again. [ she teases, and she smiles, because she doesn't quite know how else to field such easy kindness. ]

His warning rap against wall isn't much of one, since he invites himself in more or less simultaneously.]
Captain Carter. [Smile] Congratulations. In the past I might have said this might be an unfamiliar position for you, but I don't think that's true.
action
[ she gestures to another chair -- one not normally present in her room, because of the cramped conditions. but today it seems fit to have a second seat for guests. ] How are you?
action
Me? I have little else to complain about these days, beyond the obvious. I'm not sure I could ask for more than that.
And you? I don't question the fact that you seem ready accept the responsibility, though, frankly, no one asked you to treat it as such.

This is probably rude of me to ask, considering your new position... but Yosuke... he is really gone?
