[Apollo looks... a little flustered? Slightly bewildered? Like he might have accidentally exploded cooking supplies?]

I'm trying this cooking thing. I'm pretty sure it's not dangerous to eat, but does anyone want to come and be a guinea pig? These gel things are making roasts a lot fucking harder than they should be...

[On the Bishop, Apollo has taken over the kitchen for now. He manages to look surprisingly domestic, bumming around in ship standard provided clothing and hair pulled up into a ponytail that bobs along to whatever music he's imagining as he 'cooks'.

Cooking occasionally involves eye lasers. Which doesn't work on the gels half as well as he hoped it would.]

[He keeps mixing, but a brilliant halo of sunlight appears around his head as he lifts off the ground, hovering comfortably six inches off the floor.]

Have you used your laser eyes on the ships?

How do you mean, on the ships?

[He comes over and holds out the bowl. Single father, used to being bossed around by his daughter.]

[ dips a finger in it and tastes the batter. nods in approval! ]

I mean, did you try to reheat something in the kitchen, and nothing blew up?

Oh.

Yeah, I might've tried to speed along the gel warming and it exploded. And you have to let the oven preheat at a normal speed, you can't speed it up by applying solar blasts or eye lasers.

Look. Okay. The thing is, I only ask because my friend is convinced that laser eyes will definitely make the ships explode or put a hole in the wall causing a vacuum or any of that. I'm pretty sure it won't and, well, if you haven't done that yet? Then that's a pretty good point for my side.

I think if you know what you're doing and careful, you'll be fine.

... so, you're the person who needs sunlight to stay healthy?

[He's not Midnighter or Angie, but he's not stupid and he came put things together.]

Someone mentioned that there was a person on the fleet who needed sunlight and given your reactions and things you've said...

[ not accusatory, but curious ]

But it's not really a "stay healthy" thing. Well. It is, to some extent. It's for my superpowers. Without the sunlight I'm just regular. Regular immune system, regular strength.

... I so can't even remember. Might have been Kitty? I do know Kitty. Whoever it was carefully didn't mention names or genders.

[He nods. he understands, to a degree. He's burned himself out a couple of times and it was hellish. He's still super tough and strong, but he feels exhausted and sluggish.]

Do you use charge just by doing regular things, or is it specifically by using powers that you use it? I can overcharge myself pretty thoroughly.

I've explained it by using solar panels as an example before, but I don't think that's really right, either. It's not a limited amount; I just get tired more easily if, like here, the sun is too far away. If it's not there, my powers aren't there. If the sun is normal, like on Earth, I can get tired but it's not like my abilities deplete, you know?

... I think I get it.

Where as I'm like, um, a battery. I take charge and I can hold it, or release it as I need to.

So... a sun lamp would be good for you?

I'd be open to trying it, but I doubt it's that easy. I actually am an alien. But Kitty and Winn are working on some kind of generator something or other.

Oh... cool! I've known a few aliens living on Earth, though none that are sunlight reactive like you or me.

Where are you from?

It was called Krypton, but it's not really around anymore. My cousin and I were sent to Earth before it got destroyed.

... why Earth? I mean, Earth doesn't seem to be near anything.

The sun, I think. Krypton's sun was a dying red sun. My mother told me we'd have great powers on Earth.

Also, I mean, look at me. This is what a Kryptonian looks like.

Do you mean 'gorgeous blond' or 'human like'?

[He gives her a cheeky grin.]

You know, now that you mention it, I remember everyone else with dark hair. Maybe I was secretly a freak?

But I meant human-like.

[He points at his own silver white hair and shrugs.]

Yeah, makes sense, send you somewhere you don't stand out.

My cousin was an infant when he showed up on Earth, but I was 13. And the only thing more awkward than being a 13 year old is being a 13 year old on a new planet who's never seen birds before.

Thanks. A really great family adopted me on Earth. It hasn't been so bad.

What are your powers, again? Obviously laser eyes.

Hm? Flying, laser eyes, super tough and strong, I'm pretty fast, I can sort of explode energy out of myself? I'm immune to heat and light, like, my idea of a treat is going up to the sun for a bit of a walk about. Which the others would get upset about, because I'd come back over charged and glowing and leaving scorch marks with my feet.
