Hey! Soooooo since we're all stuck here, and going outside on this planet kinda sucks bigtime right now, I've been making it a project of mine to try and learn as much as I can about the different cultures of the other worlds people here are from! Particularly Earth, because there's so many of you! Someone told me the collective noun is "Earthlings"? Anyway.

I've been trawling through the media library, but to be honest, I'm not very good at sitting and reading for long periods of time. So I figured, why not just ask you guys instead?

Tell me one (or more!) thing about your home world that you think is culturally significant. It can be traditional, religious, social, or pop culture is fair game too! After all, it's no fun when people are making pop culture references that fly over my head.

The only rule is that you can't say the same thing as someone else. You ready? Go!

[Tyrion ambles in about a half hour later, and he takes in the smell of meat as ... something good until he sees the giant, rat looking things. Of course, he has eaten worse in his stints in gaols, so perhaps ... this will not be as bad?

Perhaps, being the main word there.]

Ah, and I didn't bring a bottle of wine to share over our ... meal? [He asked, slightly bemused.]

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka blinks, then waves him off.]

Oh. That's okay, I'm under-age anyway.

[She takes the sewers off the grill and puts them on a large plate, before setting them in the center of the table-- a diplomatic compromise. The food isn't in front of Tyrion himself exactly, so he doesn't have to feel rude by not taking any if he doesn't want to. Ahsoka sits at the table and grabs one skewer for herself, digging in.]

[tallasaking]

[That is diplomatic enough, and he is now going to take a seat right here, thank you ever so much and not touch the strange ... roasted rats. At least not until he finds out why he is here.]

So Ahsoka ... you seem chipper. Are you so?

[resnipstance]

[After swallowing her mouthful--] You don't need to worry. I'm a bad actress. If I'm angry about something, you'll know it.

I wanted to talk to you about Sansa. [Ahsoka is no politician, that's for sure. She cuts right to the chase.]

[tallasaking]

[She will see the change in his demeanor immediately. From relaxed pose, his spine straightened and his hands go flat on the table. Mis-matched eyes narrow.

Not defensive, but certainly guarded. Protective.]

What about Sansa?

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka takes another bite out of her not-rat skewer, chews, swallows. Finally, carefully neutral:]

When we first met, you were considering asking me to protect someone for you, weren't you? But our conversation got... interrupted. [All those calibrations.]

[tallasaking]

[He looks at her for a long and measured moment.]

I was considering it - but a lot has changed in a very short amount of time.

[He watches her now, carefully.] Why do you ask?

[resnipstance]

I just wanted to put your mind at ease, that's all. You can rest easy knowing that I'm watching out for her anyway. Not for you, of course-- just for myself. She's my friend.

[Of course, that cuts two ways. On the surface, it sounds like a simple reassurance of protection, but there's a second layer to it as well-- the promise of a threat, if ever becomes necessary. "I'm not working for you, which means I'll protect her even from you, if you cross her." She trusts Tyrion is smart enough to spot the second implication. He's always been quick on the uptake before.]

[tallasaking]

[Tyrion's eyebrows raised at that, before he folded his arms on the table, looking down at his hands, before he looked at her.]

She is my friend as well. So I am glad we are both looking out for her, and her safety.

[And the look in those mis-matched eyes is equally clear, 'I understand you perfectly, and if you turn around and betray her I will destroy you.' Dangerous people should always respect dangerous people.]

[resnipstance]

Great! [That said, Ahsoka suspects Sansa would be mortified if she knew they were having this conversation, hence why she asked to do it in private.]

So, while I've got you here, maybe you can clear a few things up for me. I'm not really sure I've got the whole picture of the politics in your world. I mean, I'm not crash hot on politics in general, so bear with me. [She has the capacity for it if and when she has to, but she hates it. Subtlety and patience are not her virtues.]

Let me see if I have this straight. There's some kind of war going on, and up until recently, Sansa was being held political prisoner by your family, right? Because she's a person of some importance by way of her birth. Have I got that correct?

[tallasaking]

Excellent. [He leans back in his chair, arching an eyebrow. It is fairly clear that neither one of them was going to be telling Sansa about this, at all. For a variety of reasons.]

I shall do so, as best I can. [He states simply, truly wishing he had wine now.]

That is correct. Of course that is not to say that she is in any safer now, considering who is now holding her as prisoner.

[resnipstance]

[Breezily:] Oh, I don't know. At least the Atroma aren't trying to marry her off unwillingly and beneath the age of consent. Though I understand the latter isn't a thing so much on your planet.

[tallasaking]

Oh, I meant in my world. The Atroma are an entirely different matter.

[He frowned for a moment.] ... Well yes, she was not the only one married off unwillingly that day. But the age of consent of any person in Westros is thirteen, man or woman.

[resnipstance]

[With evident surprise:] What? That's even worse! Thirteen is way too young to be getting married!

[But old enough to fight in a war. #starwars]

[tallasaking]

[And now, he was going to frown himself.] My first marriage was when I was thirteen - why, how old are people in your universe when they get married?

[resnipstance]

[TYRION WHAT.] Eighteen is considered the age of consent for just about everything.

[Hence her comment about the wine earlier.]

[tallasaking]

[Now his eyebrows raise up together.] Really? Well, I suppose with further age comes further maturity.

[resnipstance]

Yeah. I'm going to level with you-- I was pretty immature at thirteen. And that was only three years ago! There's no way I'd feel ready to marry someone even now.

[tallasaking]

Well, in my world, you must grow up a great deal faster. My nephew was made king when he was sixteen - of course clearly he wasn't prepared. Robb Stark was king at sixteen, again, probably not something he was prepared for ...

[And now he is going to rub his beard again.] Perhaps we really should be rethinking the ages of consent.

[resnipstance]

I'll say.

Anyway. You mentioned a minute ago that you didn't want to be married to Sansa either. Right? So-- why do it?

[tallasaking]

[Tyrion sighed, waving his hand, before holding up one finger. Now he really wished he had a drink.] Firstly, because my father commanded me to do so. In my world, to disobey the head of your House is like disobeying your King. The consequences are only slightly less dire.

[He held up another finger.] Two ... it was the best way to protect her from my nephew and sister. Marrying me put her under the blanket of my protection, kept her from being beaten ... or worse.

[A pause, and a sigh.] Three ... well. If the only chance I was going to have to be even partially happily married was with someone I could consider an ally, if not a true wife? Then I was going to take that chance. Given the opportunity, I would have taken Sansa back to Winterfell. Allowed her to rule from there and away from my poisonous family.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka listens well, taking it all in. Finally:]

... I see. So... you don't agree with what your family is doing, then.

[tallasaking]

My dear Ahsoka. [Tyrion gave her a long look, weary beyond belief. It aged him far more than his nearly thirty years on this planet.]

I have not agreed with my family for most of my damned life. The only thing we have ever agreed on was me not being murdered in the cradle.

[resnipstance]

... Wow.

That's a little intense, isn't it?
