inquisitor's path 1: well, shit
Who: Jove Lavellan
Broadcast: fleetwide video
Action: the marsiva
When: right now!!
Well.
[It's half breathless, half amused, and said with something of a strained grin. Why does weird shit keep happening to her. At least this time when she's waking up there's no chains around her wrists or incredibly intimidating women shouting questions at her. Her hand aches dimly, but it's nowhere near as bad as she's used to. She must be very far from home if she can't feel any rifts nearby.]
Could someone tell me what year it is? One moment you're jumping through a magical mirror and now here I am in... whatever this is.
I'm fairly certain it's not the Fade and I don't feel particularly dead.
[And then, more quietly,]
Cassandra is going to kill me.

But there are still some? That's... well, that's something, I suppose.
[It's comforting to know that there are people in this strange place that are at least a little familiar, who must have been from Thedas in some point in time before arriving here. He doesn't have typical vallaslin, so she's hesitant to get too elfy on him, but there are certainly pointy ears and markings of some sort. That they're from vaguely the same place must mean they're something close to allies, right? And he doesn't recognize her, immediately start in with all the Herald business, so that's a plus.]
Are they much of a threat, your demons?
no subject
They are not my demons. They do not even come from Thedas. My dwarf friend is convinced they are not a threat, for now I will trust his judgement.
no subject
Hopefully your dwarf friend is right, then. Demons in such a small place is something I don't think would end well.
no subject
[And, because he pays attention:]
You know Dorian. [Part question, part statement.]
no subject
I do, in fact, know Dorian. He's a close friend.
no subject
Is he truly what he says he is? I have never met another man like him, in Tevinter. Does he truly wish to change things?
NOT HERE
no subject
Dorian is a good man, however he may act. He sees the flaws of his countrymen as things that must change. He doesn't just wish to change Tevinter, he's taking steps to see that it does change.
no subject
[Something more to think over concerning the complicated mess that are his feelings over the Tevinter mage.]
...My name is Fenris.
[Always the winner of every social event. ]
no subject
[She's glad they've come to a place where they can be civil about Dorian, though. If anyone deserves a chance to prove he's a good man, it's him.]
Inquis- ah, Lavellan. [No one seems to know who she is here yet and she'd like to keep it that way as long as possible.] You can call me Lavellan, or Jove. Lavellan is my clan.
[It feels a little strange to make that distinction to an elf, but there they are.]
I take it your interactions with Dorian must not have been... trying.
no subject
[It's a distinction she needs to make, Fenris has crossed paths with far too few Dalish, actively avoiding them more of the time. Merrill's was the only one he learned the most of and that...well, that was a mess.]
It is good to meet you.
They have been...different. Not what I expected. [He expected Dorian to give him every excuse to tear his face off, but Dorian has not, and he finds that more unsettling than if Dorian was a monster. He can cope with monsters.]
no subject
He isn't what I expected either, if I'm honest. In a way, he saved my life. It's not the kind of thing you'd expect a man from Tevinter to do for an elf.
[But his dwarf friend and his name are bothering her, something she feels like she should be able to make sense of and not quite putting it together just yet. It's bothering her, so she'll just have to ask.]
You said your name is Fenris? Varric wouldn't happen to be that friend you mentioned, would he?
no subject
He is unlike every man in Tevinter I have ever met. It is no surprise they ostracised him. They anything that threatens their beloved status quo.
[Well, if she knows Dorian, it can only mean she is from the future. At least Fenris became used to this concept in Exsilium, or he'd still be freaking out over it.]
That would be him, yes.
no subject
But that doesn't mean she wants to talk about the hows and whys of Dorian's situation with his home with someone she isn't sure even likes the man. It isn't her place and there's far too much at risk, so instead she tries to guide the conversation away from Dorian and instead to Varric and other quite famous people.]
Then I've heard a little about you. You're a friend of Hawke's?
no subject
I would hardly call us friends. But I have since learned that time and destiny is...odd when it concerns our world. So perhaps the Hawke you are aware of is, indeed, my friend.
[Man, he really needs to explain this to Varric.]
no subject
[In his way, of course. Sardonic to the last, but always with a tone that made it clear there was affection under all that. Now that she knows not to expect the Varric here to be the Varric she knows, she finds she misses the dwarf.]
I suppose it's no matter. How have you found life here?
no subject
[Not his Hawke, then. He isn't surprised.]
It is better than the last place I was kidnapped to. At least here, I am not expected to fight a war. Or time travel.
no subject
And I promise to keep the time travel to a minimum, it isn't something I'm particularly fond of either.
no subject
[It's complicated and weird.]
No? You have experienced it? I know little of what is to happen in Thedas, in the future.
no subject
What is the world coming to when time travel is the easier thing to talk about?]
It seems like it's something of a theme for me. I suppose that's what happens when mages get a little too uppity.
[This is a joke, Fenris, don't agree. Don't do it.]
no subject
I was under the assumption that that was what Templars are for. We have an unfortunate lack of them here, though, so I suppose this is the best they could do.
no subject
Is that what they're for? I had always wondered.
[To be fair, about the only one she knew who wasn't a joke was Cullen. That isn't to say she doesn't see the point of them, but when they're running down innocents who trust them because of the symbol on their armor liking them becomes quite difficult.]
no subject
They have become less efficient at their duties as of late. [Mostly because he's 90% certain that Meredith has gone off her rocker. ]
no subject
He'll know Cullen, she realizes. Maybe not well, because as far as she remembers Cullen didn't spend a lot of time with Hawke and her - his, that will never not be odd - friends. Again it's another thing she wants to talk about but thinks the better of, because at some point there must be such a thing as too much information about the future.]
Now I'm not certain if you like them or not. You mentioned the lack of them, so I thought you wanted more.
no subject
I do want more. Kirkwall is in a state, though. Before I was taken into the Initiative, Orsino and Meredith were arguing openly, again. There is little order, and eventually something is going to snap.
[In about five seconds.]
