[So we've been stuck on the poison moon for a couple months now, so a lot of people probably want to get away from that.

Unfortunately, the only place you really can get away from it besides your own ship is the Iskaulit. So, here's a June Iskaulit mingle!]

[she gets a drink of her own, and takes a long drink.]

You make it sound like that was a rare thing for you.

[she smiles behind her beer, slow and lazy]

I was testing the supernatural waters for a reason, sweetheart. [she gestures to herself with the bottle] I'm a demon. We're not known for our heroic qualities.

[She shrugs.]

My best friend at my last interdimensional shithole was a vampire who really, really wanted to be a superhero. A good demon doesn't even sound weird anymore.

You did mention some of that. The superhero part is weird to me, but like I said, I'm used to a different type of vampire.

[she scoffs and sets the bottle back down] I'm only kind of good. I just have no reasons to be bad anymore. My missions have been over for a while now.

... Demons get missions? What kind of missions?

Not those kinds of missions. Not really.

I mean more . . . the demon I was following, I made his end goal my mission. And then when he died, I moved onto someone else. Did the same thing, until he was locked away. [she shrugs a shoulder] That was a few years ago for me.

I didn't even know demons really had end goals. The ones where I come from are just another species of monster.

Huh. So they weren't human once?

No? They come from another plane. Vampires are a type of demon, where I'm from, too, with similar properties to an undead... Both vampires and undead monsters look like people, but they aren't.

Demons are like... Much larger than a human, all black, a dragon-looking face, big horns... Really big forearms, the claws hurt a lot. More or less mindless, as far as I know. I've killed a couple, and they were stupidly strong.

[she can't help but look just a little bit amused] Some would argue that some of our demons are pretty mindless. Yours sound cooler-looking, at least.

Ours? Directly from Hell. If you torture a human soul down there long enough, bam. It becomes a demon. To put it very, very simply.

[She sounds hesitant and worried, now. were you tortured a lot, meg :(]

More or less. I've been a demon for a very long time.

In my world... We don't really have a 'hell' anymore, I think.

There's not a lot to talk about, really. And it's a lot of bad things anyway. I try not to come off terrible until the third time around.

[she has never in her life met someone who thought demon backstories were sad. What the heck]

No? It could be there still, for all you know. Not a lot of people know it actually exists where I'm from. Humans as a whole don't know half of what's going on behind the scenes.

[She shrugs, trying to put the torturing souls talk behind her.]

There is an afterlife- Some adventurers have managed a planar teleport spell to take them there and back. But 'hell' was something created by the gods, and we killed the last of those about five hundred years ago. So... Now everyone goes to the same place.

[wow, a world where gods weren't MIA. That's a concept]

So no Heaven either? No Purgatory?

I mean... Not me personally? Like I said, Tyrfing, the last god, was killed about five hundred years ago.

Not really. The afterlife is 'heaven' when there's a hell, but there's no hell anymore. I don't know what purgatory is?

I meant it as a general "you", but - wow. Our God has been MIA for years. Not even the angels know where he is.

Purgatory is where all the monsters go when they die. Vampires, werewolves, djinn - they have their own little afterlife.

... Monsters don't have souls, so... At least, that's how it works in my world. I've met enough in my last shithole to know that's not true everywhere.

[She's actually considering this, though- This is much more interesting to think about.]

Think yours got killed? I'm... told that's not actually normal, and some gods are good, but I can't really imagine that.

So I'm starting to see. It's an interesting kind of strange.

He's either dead or he just stopped caring. He didn't show his face for the Apocalypse, as far as I know. I'd say that's a big sign that the big guy upstairs just doesn't give a shit anymore if he's still kicking.
