This place is a farce, compared to there. We were soldiers drafted into a war. None of us chose to be there, but our worlds would be destroyed...all worlds would be destroyed, if we did not. Many people died, and there was-

There was a nuclear attack at one point. It wiped out the native people who lived in the home based we were given. The winter that followed wiped out everything else. We fixed it, but those people still died in one timeline, and all we could do was watch, ironically, from space.
