006 - action/voice; i came in like troy walking in with pizza

[You know, Clay hadn't been expecting a day like this. All he was doing was going to the Iskaulit to do some workouts in the gym, even bopping to a tune playing in his head.

Of course, that all comes a stop when he sees the mess before he sees anyone else. Blood trailing through the hallway, like someone had been walking with it. His stomach churns a bit, and his first instinct is to flee and get someone with medical help. Like Jennifer, or Beverly, or...

But no, he's here, and he... doesn't really realize just how bad it is yet. He returns to his shuttle first to grab the first-aid box, then heads in to see who needs his help.

And upon following the trail, well... Turns out, it's a lot worse than he thought it'd be, and that instinct from before comes back full force. He's only had some lessons, he's not prepared for this level of medical trauma, he really isn't -

And that's why he'll be calling out on the comms - not video, because there are kids on the network, but it's pretty clear by the state of his shaky voice that this is definitely an emergency.]

I-I need doctors - healers, medics -

[He takes in a deep breath - ]

I need all medical personnel to the Iskaulit right now!

[Once Mikleo's done what he can in the more life-threatening areas - and gotten tired of flailing his arms at people who can't see or hear him - he ventures over to the bar, since he'd heard there were more injuries to treat. Hopefully people there will be more willing to answer their comms, otherwise they'll be getting the mystery-heal treatment.]

[The bar is mostly deserted, given the commotion outside, and she chased all her regulars home for their own safety anyway; right now there's just Nami fussing around a familiar small child laid out on one of the tables with her coat as a pillow, a cool compress on her forehead.

She's got bandages laid out on the table and is about to try wrapping Koala's ribs, so if you want to save her the trouble, go right ahead. Surprise, she can't see you.]

[Oh geez, it's Koala. Of course it would be Koala. Mikleo steps over, making his presence as obvious as possible, but when he gets no reaction, it's clear that this woman has no resonance. He's seen her around the Huntress before - she visits Koala often enough - so it's not a surprise that she still can't see him.

The injuries look non-threatening enough, so at least there's less of a panicked atmosphere here. He takes a deep breath, lifts his staff, and quietly begins an incantation.

Don't mind the sudden burst of light blooming around Koala's head, Nami. It's totally a good thing!]

[The sudden burst of light that has her drop a roll of bandages in startlement and then kind of... wave her hand through it as if trying to shoo it away? That burst of light?]

What--?

[It's not Koala, but there are magical healers, right? At least she hopes that's what it is. She peers up at the doorway as if expecting to see someone there.]

[woman stop that, your hands are in the way

Mikleo sighs quietly, trying not to feel exasperated - she's just trying to help, after all. But still, he kind of needs the space.

Finishing with the initial arte, he pulls out his comm and tries calling her. He really should have dragged Sorey over here...]

[Well if you would just stop being invisible gosh--

She snatches the comm up the moment it blips at her, still glancing between Koala and the door.] Hello?

[nerdeology]

[MAYBE IF YOU WEREN'T SO CLOSE-MINDED]

Hey. You can't see me, but I'm here to help. Please stand back so I can heal her.

[I think the word you want is rational--

Her mind ticks over for a second. She has been told about certain invisible people on the ship. There's only one, right...?]

Mikleo?

[But she is backing up to give him space, even if she's now looking over the room to see if she can work out where he is.]

[Huh. That means Koala's mentioned him, then. Makes it easier.]

That's right. Can you tell me what happened to her?

[namisan]

[Cole, actually. Wouldn't stop talking about Sorey, and Mikleo got thrown into the discussion as a consolation prize.]

Winter tried to kill her. I don't know if she sustained damage before I got there, but when I arrived he'd just thrown a punching bag at her. [Her voice is tight on that fact. She'd thought Winter was just reserved, but beating on kids...?]

She's concussed, and a few of her ribs are broken.

[nerdeology]

[He doesn't know who this Winter is, and right now he doesn't care, either. The list of injuries is enough for the moment.

He rests one hand on Koala's forehead, and the other on her chest, and with another bout of chanting and a return of that same healing light, he starts to knit her body together again. It'll take a minute, but before too long, he withdraws and goes back to the comm.]

That should do for now. You can't rush head injuries too much, so we'll need to let her wake up on her own. At the very least, she isn't in any danger.

[She watches with a lot of curiosity, but she can see the swelling on Koala's forehead lessen herself and breathes a small sigh of relief, reaching out to smooth some of that hair down.]

Thank you. The less she's hurt when she wakes up, the better.

Yeah, I agree. I'm glad it wasn't worse than it is, but...

[Poor kid's already been through a lot, she doesn't need all this added trauma. He'll be keeping an eye out for the aftereffects of this one.]

At least things seem to have settled down outside, for the moment.

[She sits up sharply, not quiet noticing the two around her - well, okay, not really noticing Mikleo at all, but not even noticing Nami either. She looks ready to bolt, gasping, an edge of panic in it that she... can't remember why it's there.

Shouldn't she be running?? Should she be running?!]

SOMEONE-!!!

[She looks around slowly, eyes falling to Nami, expression one of queasy confusion.

She feels... a bit off. She feels better than -- what she can remember. But where's...

[Nami jumps a bit at the sudden wakeup call, so let's just put that conversation on hold. She smiles tentatively as Koala finally gets oriented.]

Hey. Mikleo's here, too. Everything's over.

[Well, that was faster than he'd expected. It's a good sign, at least- it means her head injury is probably less severe than it had initially looked.

He raises his voice a bit so it'll come through more clearly on the comm.]

I'm glad you're awake. How do you feel?

She looks between them, smiling like her life depends on it.]

And she's in no position to stop the tears that spill the instant she tries to fake it and make it.]

Nami's face crumples just a little in sympathy, and she sweeps Koala up in her arms before she can think better of it (what if it still hurts?), folding her in so she can cry into Nami's collar instead.]

It's okay to cry! No one's going to blame you for it. It was scary and Winter's an asshole and I'm gonna yell at him a lot later, okay?

[It'd be nice if she could actually see Mikleo, because it's hard to juggle a crying child and a comm at the same time. After a moment she eases it down on the table instead so she can still talk, hands free.]

[Oh geez. He's glad Nami's here to hug her- he's not the best at that anyway, but if pressed he would... except he's invisible, and the last thing he wants is to startle her. Especially when she's already upset. He leaves her in Nami's hands for the moment; her check-up can wait.]

It's just as she says. We're glad you're safe, but you don't have to be okay with what happened.

[She shakes her head against Nami's bosom, wiping her eyes and nose quickly. She shouldn't let herself lose so much control! It's just not good!]

It's — It's just been a long time since anyone's been so...

Even Arlong had limited himself, when he was cruel. He hadn't tried to kill her like that; knock her around, sure, but never like that. She's not sure what to make of it, that Winter was more vicious than someone who utterly despised humans.]

W-why would he do that? I had met him before, and he was so much nicer...

[Go ahead there's plenty of it She rests her hand on Koala's hair, letting her sob it out, and gives some thought to that question herself.]

I don't know. But I'm going to find out.

...Mikleo. You don't have any idea, do you? [There's more going on outside the bar, so maybe it's come up or been discovered or--]

I don't, sorry. No one can see me anyway, so I just passed through and healed wherever I could. I don't even know who Winter is.
