Clay Terran | OTA
[Clay has visited several different kinds of planets and moons by now, so one would think that visiting a place so unusual wouldn't be a bit unsettling for him. But it is, it's just... He's so used to the big city life and hardly seeing nature like this anywhere that it's just weird. Not even uncomfortable, but weird. While others might find this place serene, nostalgic and homey, Clay just finds himself yearning for the city all the more. Still, there are people he hasn't seen in a while, so he'll seek them out all the same with a big grin that hides his weird feeling.]
Hey! Pretty neat world, huh?
[Though touching him might reveal that he feels kinda differently about that.]
B. Exploration
[Eventually, the weird feeling fades in favor of just being in love with the fact that he's on a different planet. That means it's time for exploring, for note taking, for adventure. Clay's already climbing up the roots of one tree, a big, excited smile on his face as he looks up, up, and up at the top he can't even see.]
Aw, dude, look at these! [He runs his hand along the trunk, feeling the bark and trying to see if it feels any different from the trees back at home.] They remind me of sequoias! [He holds up a hand in a point, as if to present a fact, though his attention is still up at the tree tops] Did you know the world's tallest tree - or my world's tallest tree, is called called the Hyperion tree? It's almost four hundred feet tall! But it's still not the widest, nor the largest when all of its dimensions are added together, and I think these babies beat them all by miles!
[Nerd alert, nerd alert.]
C. Whistle while you work
[If you're way up in the treetops and working on constructing or repairing some of the structures, you'll find Clay up there with you! He's not much of a builder of things like this by himself, as he mostly just follows instructions or does some heavy lifting, but he's very dedicated to what he does, and he seems thrilled to be up so high. Strapped around him is the flight suit that Hiccup gave him long ago, just in case he feels like leaping off when he's done, or accidentally falls off.
In fact, late in the afternoon when he's done, you can find him flying with the suit. He glides downward along the shore, a big grin on his face as he watches the ground below him, feels the wind in his face and hair. He would go further inward, but he's not particularly keen on doing an impersonation of George of the Jungle.]
D. Starlight (Locked to Allen)
[Just a few hours after arrival, once Clay's crew is settled and he's sure everyone is all good and ready to go, he separates himself from them, going to a more private spot away from everyone else for this. He takes out his comm, fixes his hair and shirt a bit, then smiles as he rings up Allen's comm.]
E. Wildcard
[Do whatever you want with him!]
B
[Hi, Clay, it's a fox girl in weird Japanese-styled clothes.]
You seem to know a lot, though. You must really like trees.
no subject
So Hyperion is a person's name where you come from? [He shrugs a bit then, squatting down so that he can talk to her better, though he keeps his hand on the tree still.]
Nah, not really trees. More like I really like my planet.
no subject
[Honestly, it's a good thing she wears those raised sandals, or else even squatting wouldn't put him anywhere near eye level. She's tiny.]
Oooh? Nature in general, then? Or did you mean something else?
no subject
[... Not much on legends here. Or, well, legends that don't involve stars.]
Something else, actually! I mean, nature's okay; it lets a planet become habitable for human beings. But I'm more of an astronomy guy. I study things in space for a living!
no subject
[She seems a little disappointed, but she does perk up at the next bit.]
Oh? I'd like to hear about that. I studied the stars when I was alive, but a thousand years must have made that study much more interesting.

Hey, Clay. It's been a while.
Isn't this place great? I'm actually hoping we stay here for as long as we did the poison hole.
no subject
[Man. She looks really happy. Clay kinda feels bad for feeling so... weirded out about all this.]
I kinda hope so too. Gives me a chance to really study the planet and what's going on around it! [Always the astronomer, this guy]

... That sounds like fun, but... Is something wrong?

Hey you!
D for sure!!!
Hey yourself!
How's your crew? Everyone good and fine?
no subject
[Well, a couple of them are depressed, but that's unrelated to the planet itself]
Where are you at? I'm assuming your crew's all settled in if you're calling.

How much is four-hundred feet?
b.
Well, let me show you one-hundred feet first!
[He looks down at the forest floor, looking all around where Bran is.]
Now, what can we use as a marker...
no subject
You can use this!

C
What're you working on?
C
Hey Kirito! [And with that greeting, he leans back to let Kirito take a look at his work. It's a tree house built high in the branches, but there are several holes in it, and the door had been completely broken, only barely hanging off a hinge. That door is now resting on a way off to the side while a new door is in the middle of being installed, along with a sturdier foundation to support it as well as the rest of the tree house.]
Rebuilding this whole thing, pretty much. I don't do magic stuff, and I can't take down the wildlife out there, so physical labor is about the best I can do to earn some cash around here.
no subject
[Construction is a little beyond him, so even if he doesn't get it, it's something to admire.
He lands beside Clay and peers closer, checking out the current project. Manual labour... ahhh, the classic nerd's great weakness.]
no subject
[With Kirito watching, Clay will go ahead and keep installing the new door. See, he's one of those rare nerds that's actually into physical exercise too, so Clay's more than capable of doing something like this.]
And it's not exactly fun. Good thing they're nice enough to allow plenty of breaks.
[Hence the flight suit he has strapped on.]

But the book says these trees tend to grow out when they get to a certain height. I mean, they'd have to! Thinning oxygen and dropping temperatures at high altitudes would start to strangle it. These trees are way too lush to survive a hostile climate.
B
[Clay slides off of the trunk then, only to dig his hands into the soil]
Feel this! It's really lush and moist here!
no subject
should they be burying their hands in this]
