I have an important request. I need someone who can make cheese. Do cheese makers have an old timey name like cobblers and haberdashers or are those only for clothes? Anyway, calling all of those.

Cheese doesn't seem to be a thing here from what I can tell, but we're just one ingredient away from some really great pizza. I have no idea what cheese requires other than cows or goats or something. I grew up so close to Wisconsin, but I feel like I learned so little.

I would also accept alternative cheese. I know there were vegan kinds made out of hopes and dreams or something I assume. I can pay you or share the finished pizza or do something in trade if I had skills. I could beat someone up for you maybe. [She's not going to do that. Probably.] We'll work it out.

[ he's been walking around aimlessly after leaving margaery, trying to figure out some sort of script, some way to say what he need to say without saying anything he doesn't mean to say because he's so upset at all the things margaery has had to go through in her young life, things that have nothing to do with the issue he has to iron out with kitty. her broadcast brings a very fond smile to his face when he settles in to watch it; he knows she loves pizza too, as do everyone because what kind of weirdo doesn't like pizza? but he still gets this feeling that this is mostly for his benefit, and it warms his heart and makes what he has to do so much harder.

finally he sighs; putting this off is only going to make him more anxious, and it's probably not even going to be that bad. he's just going to straighten up a misunderstanding! that's all. and kitty loves it when he talks to her about things that bother him, this may even be pleasant, right? right.

he heads back to the inn and knocks on the door. ]

Ready or not, here I come, you have 3 seconds to push all lovers out the wall - [ and in he goes, with a little smile, shutting the door behind him. ] Hi.

[He's not wrong. Oh, she'd be on the look out for pizza for just herself too, but recruiting others to help? Why do that if not for Winn? And she's sure many others would be into it too. Food bonding times!]

Does that mean I should be pushing you out of a wall, Winn? [She's curled up on bed with a book that she smiles up from when he enters.] Why don't you come closer and see if I do? [It will probably be a kiss instead. Okay, definitely a kiss.]

[ he comes close and leans in for that kiss, nervous energy slipping through his lips along with the more standard happiness to see her. ]

I'm your boyfriend, different category. [ he smiles. ] What're you reading?

You at the moment. [Because she did feel that nervousness. She pats the bed next to her.] Come here. What's up? [She has no expectations about this. She doesn't even really think it will have anything to do with her. She just wants to help her guy out if she can.]

[ he sighs and kicks off his shoes before hopping onto the bed, leaning back against the comfortable mattress. it's so pleasant in this room, can't things just stay pleasant? he hopes margaery will forgive him, she didn't want him to say anything, but he can't do it...they both mean too much to him to let this go.

he hesitates for a moment, before deciding to lean his head on her shoulder. he wants her to know that he's not blaming, he's just trying to understand because he cares for the both of them. if his words fail him - maybe his feelings will carry him through. ]

I talked to Margaery today and...I think there's been a misunderstanding between the two of you. I'd...really like to know your perspective. [ beating around the bush is made extra-meaningless by the link the planet provides for them. ]

[She wasn't expecting that and for a moment she can't even picture what he might be referring to, but it has to be their last conversation, right? It didn't end the best. But she's also surprised it would be something the other girl would have brought up to him.

She brushes her fingers through his hair gently.]

What did she say? [Because she's not even sure where to start from that.]

[ that uncertainty is already reassuring him - this feels more and more like he got this right - it's nothing but a misunderstanding! easily solved, right? ]

That she thinks...you don't like her. At first she thought it was because she was somehow - being untoward with me - which, I told her was ridiculous. [ because it is, isn't it? she's 16, kitty can't possibly think there's anything beyond familial bonds there. ] So then she thought it had to do with what she's been comfortable sharing about herself.

[The part about about being untoward surprises her further and not just because Winn used the word "untoward." And for just a moment she feels bad, thinking maybe she really left Margaery that confused, but it's only a moment before it turns toward suspicion. Margaery doesn't seem like someone who would be easily confused after all.]

I'm not sure how to feel about her anymore. [She had liked Margaery, but now she doesn't feel like she can trust her and more than that like the girl was possibly manipulating her and maybe trying to do the same with Winn now with these confessions of hers. She doesn't like the line of thought. She wants to be able to trust people on her crew if nothing else, but she's been burned before. She can't just ignore her instincts even if they can be...extra sensitive and pick up false alarms too.]

Kitty... [ he senses her suspicion, and it breaks his heart because - he understands where margaery comes from, deeply. if he had arrived to this fleet at age 16 - he's not sure he wouldn't have behaved the same way about the kids he grew up with for fear they'd show up and retaliate, or worse - retaliate when he gets home and there was no one there to protect him. ]

She's a 16 year old girl, as far away from home and anything familiar to her and her family as she can get - and she's been through hell. She's someone who's just trying to survive. I think -- if anyone can understand that - [ he pulls himself up on his elbow so he can look her in the eye. he believes in margaery. ]

Of course I can understand it. That's why I don't make allowances for it. ["16" doesn't sound young to her. It doesn't sound weak or vulnerable. She knows what she was at 16 in a hard world trying to survive. She was a warrior. Margaery just uses different weapons. But it feels almost impossible not to be influenced by the way Winn is feeling. Moved if nothing else.]

Do you know the last thing we talked about? I just asked her to be honest with me. I didn't even expect openness. Keep your secrets. Just don't feed me lies, and she basically just turned me down. [Though maybe she didn't explain her position that well in the moment.] Which, hey, that's pretty honest, but how am I supposed to feel about it, Winn?

[ he sighs, because that's difficult. he understands where both of them are coming from - he knows painfully well where kitty's trust issues stem from, and he knows where margaery's defensiveness comes from as well. ]

When you have to live with someone you're terrified of - it's really hard to promise the truth. Things sound -- really uncertain in her world, and one of the people from there who's here already threatened her. Try to put yourself in her shoes - this is all new to her, we're all new to her, and as far as she knows we could disappear at any time, we can't guarantee her safety, not really. [ and it's killing him, it really is. ] She doesn't have powers - all she has to protect herself with is that smile. [ exactly like him. kitty would have probably mistrusted him as a kid as well, and the thought kind of hurts, he's not sure why. ] Maybe what she meant was - she can't guarantee you won't ask her a question she'll have to lie about to feel safe. I think...you're kind of missing each other.

Who threatened her? [She sits up more attentively. She has her doubts about Margaery, clearly. But no one is hurting her. The protective wave comes through clearly as she brushes the rest of that aside in the moment. It's not because it's less important. Much of it deserves a hug right now, but these instincts are strong in her. She may have to go twist some arms tonight.]

[ he's grateful for that protectiveness; see he knew it, it doesn't matter how she might be feeling about margaery at any given moment, kitty is a hero through and through and he trusts her to keep her safe. ]

It wasn't an explicit threat but - his name's Theon Greyjoy. She promised she'd tell me if he ever said or did anything again, and it seems he hasn't in a while. I dunno him but - [ he already kinda hates him. they'll show him how long it takes a rose to wilt - a very goddamn long time! he's so happy that it seems margaery and kara hit it off well. ]

[She knows the name. She's spoken to him. She thought he was a loud, but harmless, fool. She even had some sympathy for him at times, but then Tyrion told her about the children he murdered. She hasn't found a forgiving place for that yet.] I know him. He could be dangerous. Tyrion told me something awful he did. [Awful enough she isn't going into details, but she can only hope he doesn't see them in her mind.]

[ he senses her reaction to the name - and it's enough to scare him. margaery has tried to dismiss him as nothing more than a nuisance, but that's apparently how she copes, how she protects herself from evoking these people's wrath. ]

Don't bring her up with him if she's flying under his radar I wanna keep her that way -

[ but do feel free to kick his ass if you get the chance to because he is freaking out pretty badly right now. not knowing what that awful thing he did is making his imagination run wild but he's getting the feeling kitty doesn't want him to ask. ]

[She nods slowly.]

...Were you touching her? [It sounds like it could be suspicious or jealous, doesn't it? But it won't feel that way. At least not through her emotions. She just seems thoughtful.]

You mean here?

[ it sounds like she wants to know if he felt what's in her heart. he wishes she could trust his judgment, but he can understand why she can't. heck, even he knows he's been trusting way too blindly. ]

Yeah, I gave her a hug. [ and he's felt nothing unexpected. he trusts margaery completely, she's a sister to him. just like kitty - she keeps trying to build him up, it's so endearing. ]

[How can she trust his judgement when she struggles with trusting her own? She's always going to have some issues as long as that's true.]

Yeah. Okay. [Accepting it for now that it wasn't some sort of trick.]

...I didn't say anything about her hitting on you, you know. Or whatever untoward stood for in that case. And even if I thought she had [Which she didn't] how could I blame anyone for seeing you as the greatest guy that you are?

I believe in her.

[ sometimes, he finds it easier to trust other people's judgments because he's uncertain of his own. ]

Yeah, I told her that couldn't have been it.

[ he smiles a little, the thought had been absurd - and horrifying to him. he was really worried he somehow did something wrong, sent the wrong message about their relationship. she assured him that wasn't the case, but he still feels kind of uncomfortable with the mere suggestion. she's a teenager, he's almost in his thirties. ]

Though funny you say that, she's got a 'compliment me' project going too. [ she doesn't need his touch to see and hear the fondness he feels for her, and how amused he is by her endeavors. a 16 year old is giving him self esteem lessons. that's neck and neck with a pony baking for him. ]

I'm glad you knew that. I mean, not that I haven't been jealous over you before, but I trust you. [And that sort of jealousy is about feeling like she's lacking something. Like he has better friends and better confidants to turn to, not that she'd ever want to begrudge him a person who makes him happy.]

I guess she and I should have kept working on it. [She didn't realize how close Winn felt to Margaery.]

Wait -- you have? Who've you been jealous over? [ she told him about cisco, but that wasn't romantic jealousy - at least - he hopes that wasn't - that joke from acquaintances is one thing. from his girlfriend...and he told cisco it wasn't like that.

his best guesses would be kara or kate, they're the age appropriate beautiful women he's closest to besides kitty, but...a woman like kitty being jealous over him just doesn't compute. ]

I'd rather you keep working on each other.

[ margaery is the first person he's felt like he could protect, he could be there for, he could take care of. she's someone he doesn't feel so weak next to. and she's someone - he can relate to more than he ever wants to let her know. she's family to him. and kitty...kitty's kitty. she's the woman he loves. ]

You already know the answer to this one. I mean, it wasn't the kind of jealous where I thought you wanted to make out with him or anything. And I can feel you thinking about Kara and Kate right now, mister. [She sounds amused.]

I'll to my best to make things right with your friend. [And her crewmate. She kisses his forehead.]

For the record, I don't want to make out with anyone else.

[ he smiles and wraps his arms around her for a proper hug. ]

Oh, hey, I don't know how you feel about venison, but they are keeping a plate for you in the kitchen. There's a fruit tart too.

I feel like -- I'm ready to taste some.

[ space food has made him a lot less picky. and fruit tart is promising! ]

You already ate? [ they didn't set a date, so it's no big deal, just a tiny bit disappointing, because eating alone kinda sucks, as does eating while someone's just..watching you do it. ]
