When: A couple days after this post. That's right, this means war.

[Anders has something very important to say. Terribly important.]

It's been brought to my attention that the fleet has been suffering under a loss of fuzzy animals, although that's quickly being fixed with all these fuzzy slugs. But more importantly, there's one fuzzy animal that deserves appreciation, something my dear friend, Lady Cousland reminded me of.

[The camera tilts down to show a small tabby-orange kitten playing in the grass and leaves on the forest floor, stalking some bug or another, but never drifting too far from Anders' side.]

This is Ser-Pounce-A-Lot, the cutest kitten in the world. Aren't you the cutest kitten in the world? No mean dog is better than you, isn't that right, Ser Pounce?

[Completely unashamed of the baby-talk he just dissolved into, Anders puts his hand out for Pounce to jump onto his arm and up to his shoulder, purring and rubbing his head against Anders' chin.]

He's also incredibly intelligent and he knows it.

[He holds up a hand up to the camera.]

Please, hold your applause, I know this sad fleet has been kitten-starved. You're welcome.

[Is he serious?

You bet your ass he is. Right down to the baby-talking a kitten. Shame? He doesn't know the meaning of the word.]

Well, he's certainly the smallest.

[But he does coo at her ginger fluffball. All cats are precious, after all.]

He's so cute! How do you manage all that fur, though?

I think we might be running a tied race.

[ Crookshanks wiggles in her hold and moves to shove his face into her neck. It's ticklish. ]

He takes care of it alone for the most part, I just have to make sure it doesn't knot. It'll be easier once he's grown up again.

You're probably right. I can't, in good conscience, claim one cat is better than another. They both win.

[He smiles at the display and Pounce decides it's a good idea to bat at his earring before jumping off his shoulder to hunt something else.]

You said 'grow up again.' Riona's dog came to her as a puppy when it had been fully grown before, is that the case for your cat?

Great minds think alike.

[ At least Crookshanks doesn't mind cuddling up to her too much, and Hermione doesn't do much more than stroke at his ears gently. ]

He was a few years older when I last saw him, but I suppose the tree worked it's magic and made him a kitten again. It just means I have to work a little harder to keep an eye on him.

[He always did like that saying.]

Interesting. I guess that's simply by the tree's design. Pounce was already a kitten, so it didn't occur to me he had no choice but to show up that way.

Gives us longer with them, though, and they're just so cute at this age!

[Life of a cat-mom.]

Maybe he'd be too big as an adult cat, or maybe it's because I left him in the world I was in before this one so the tree had to bring him from before then.

[ She has to fight her smile and she shakes her head. ]

Do you think they'd like to be friends?

[He grins.]

Oh, absolutely! We should arrange a kitten playdate.

I think it's likely been a while since Pounce has seen another cat.

Crookshanks only had one other cat in the Drabwurld, and his kittens, but I don't think he remembers that.

[ But at least he's purring. ]

I can come to your ship if you'd like?

Oh, I've been staying planetside this whole time. I could send you directions to the treehouse I'm in, or we can just meet in the Three Twins clinic, I'm sure they'll have fun, regardless.

[Too much time on the ship when he'd much rather feel more free than that had led to leaving and trying his hardest not to come back until he needed to.]

Which would you prefer?

I think Crookshanks would probably enjoy the outside right now. He's going to end up cooped up inside for weeks once we leave the planet and it might be nice for him to get out and exercise while he can.

[ It's incredibly claustrophobic, especially for a girl used to wide open forests and a large office that felt safe instead of compact. She can't imagine how it feels for her kitten. ]

I can come to your treehouse when you're free?

I completely understand.

In an hour, then? I'll run some errands and get some treats for them while I'm at it.

[And make double certain the house was kitten-proofed, just in case.]

That sounds lovely! I'll see you soon - oh!

[ She lifts Crookshanks up, letting him settle on her shoulder. ]

I'll transfigure some toys for Pounce, too, if you'd like.

[He is far too pleased about that idea.]

Would you really? That would be great!

Of course! I have a bad habit of spoiling kittens rotten. I'll see you soon, Anders.
