[Guess what everyone? It's time for a Life Changing Field Trip with the Blue Fish!!! The whole crew has come together at the giving tree to see what the fuss is about and maybe get some gifts. And to hold hands of course. Obviously.

[Allen, as much as he likes this planet, has been reluctant about the whole hand-holding business if it wasn't with his boyfriend. He was a very private person after all, and the physical contact seemed to be well...there was a tendency to overshare.]

[So he hesitates when Beverly holds out her hand. Or rather, stalls]

[Sokka's really not looking forward to this, and as such is wandering slowly around the tree, hands in his pockets, scowling at it. Every now and again, Atroma bring them to a place where he can't explain the goings on beyond "magic", and that honestly annoys him.

Magic isn't real. It's just...not.

He's just going to continue circling the damn thing.]

I admit it's... rather inexplicable but we won't know unless we give it a try, right?

[He rubs the back of his neck. He can't argue that it is kind of eerie, but...]

Yeah, Beverly has a point. [And optimistically!] I hear you get things from the tree. Maybe you'll get another bag for your collection.

Yeah! We can prove this magic stuff is just a bunch of hockey and it's just got a perfectly reasonable scientific explanation. Like it's a wormhole into other dimensions - to pick stuff up from other worlds, or something. Or some kinda of replicator.

[Beverly rests a hand on the tree.]

I do know of species who can manipulate matter naturally, without the help of machines. Beings of pure energy. Perhaps this one is only taking a solid form for the benefit of those who live here.

What's word for the thing that's a lot of smoke and mirrors, then?

[It's probably not important. He grins at Beverly, though. Yes, GOOD. ]

[He circles back before huffing, taking a hand in each of his own. ]

[Beverly shares in some of Allen's confusion, but for the most part, she is just affectionately amused by the pair of them and curious about what's going to happen next.]

Some of the locals I spoke to before we came out said you often have to hold hands for several minutes before anything happens.

[She gives Sokka a sly look.]

[Sokka turns his head slowly in her direction to give her a flat look. ]

If we're stuck here that long, I'm just putting it out there that I won't really hesitate to eat someone's leg all that much.

[But he's so giving a glance to Beverly, she was joking about that last part right...?]

[She grins at the looks on their faces.]

You two make it entirely too easy. I'd say we give it maybe five minutes, ten at the most, before letting go.

[whew. Holding hands for that long is a terrible prospect after all]

Are we supposed to do something? Like..talk or something?

[She's teasing, but part of her also genuinely is enjoying this. Tactile and affectionate as she is, holding hands isn't awkward at all for her.]

I'm not a fan. Katara tried to get me to do this in Team Avatar huddles all the time. I'm not a toucher.
